“You will not want to leave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2009

We travel fairly extensively. This hotel is located in the absolute heart of the old city. the view from our room (number 301) was absolutely incredible. We usually are only concerned with having a nice quiet place to sleep with good access to amenities. This hotel met those needs extremely well, but the view from our room onto the rolling hills was unbelievable. in fact, the view from our room was better than any other view we saw. the room has sufficient room, the breakfast buffet was varied and more than adequate, and the hotel staff was very helpful in suggesting places to go and to eat (and which ones to avoid). We were walking distance from 5 of the best restaurants in the entirity of Tuscany. This hotel also has great rates compared to others. Do not wake them up. this is a hidden jewel. We will be going back. We also stayed in Cinque terre, and in Umbria for 5 days each, but this is where we want to return.

Had a wonderfu stay there, got an excellent deal on venere.com (39€ a double room in B&B for 1 night). People at reception were friendly, room was high above expectations, huge, very nice, clean, nice bathroom, and quiet. The breakfast offered a vast choice, and also included local products such as pecorino cheese and ham/salami...Position of the hotel is amazing, in the centre of the old town of Pienza! There is really no complaint I can make about the stay.

We stayed there for two nights recently and were a little disappointed with the physical condition of the property.

The service was very good and the location is primo, but the place is "beat up"

Bathroom in our room needed major renovation and updating.

Stayed at this hotel for 4nts in July, we had a Junior suite which was really spacious and had a delightful view over the hotels courtyard. Cannot fault staff at the hotel they were more than helpful. We took our car to this hotel and you can either just use one of the public car parks scattered around the walls of Pienza or make use of the hotels valet service which was fab for 15 euro per day. Hotel pool was small but great and has fantastic views over the Tuscan countryside. The town of Pienza is simply stunning and has a good choice of restaurants. Most of the restaurants are small so do get booked up quickly but as they are mainly all family run the food is the best we had during our trip of France & Italy. Prices are more than reasonable too. On our last night we ate in the hotels terrace restaurant which was more expensive but superb, the views from the terrace are worth it alone. Breakfast is served out on the terrace every morning too and was a perfect start to every day. If we ever travel back to this region we would deft stay at this hotel.

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. We booked a great deal through Citalia and we had a charming room at the top of the hotel - no view but we enjoyed the views from the hotel terrace. The staff were very helpful. We contacted them before we left home for advice on how to get there as we were travelling by public transport and they booked us a taxi from Siena station. We caught the bus back on the way home for euro 3.80! Breakfasts were very good - excellent coffee. We ate out - Bacchus, Dal Falco and La Bucca delle Fate - all very good. We would also recommend the Palazzo Picolomini. Pienza is a delightful town and a great place to have a rest or make your base. Altogether a very good choice and possibly the quietist hotel we have ever stayed in at night - very thick stone walls!

Date 15th. June 2008.
We have just returned from a lovely week in Pienza. Prior to our holiday I read all the reviews written by tripadvisor members and can confirm that they gave an accurate description of what to expect. The hotel is charming, the room we had was rather small but spotlessly clean. The tea and coffee making facility was very welcome. The bed was new and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern but the shower cubicle was very small and the hot water unreliable. This would deter me from staying there for more than a week but it is such a unique place you must stay there at least once. The entrance is beautiful and the views spectacular.
We loved Pienza, particularly at night when we wandered to a restaurant or bar and mixed with the local people. We found the price of meals more expensive than we expected.
Only one thing slightly marred the whole holiday and that was the attitude of the owner of the Latte di Luna. We went there as a tripadvisor member had recommended it and I must admit we had a verygood meal but he was very unwelcoming .The second time we tried to eat there we arrived at 7.10. All the tables outside were empty, he asked if we had booked , when we said no he said we could have a table inside and then just turned his back on us. We wondered if it was because he preferred to sit groups of 4 rather than 2 as we saw him turn away a couple on our first visit when there was a table free.
However, that was a minor disappointment Pienza was delightful.Make sure you find the 2 ceramic studios and visit the palace.
