This was pretty cool place to stay. It didn't start too well as we arrived out of season... and it was extremely cold for even for out of season... we stayed two nights in Bernardo suite, which took the whole first day to heat up well enough... it was eventually absolutely fine. Bernardo suite has a decent view with small balcony, which could be awesome in the summer. The owner lady doesn't speak much English, but tries very hard. She recommended a restaurant about 50 yards away, which was very good. You get breakfast vouchers to be used in two local cafes - both about a minute walk out of the main door. It would have been helpful to know what you can order for these vouchers - we kinda relied on/trusted the cafe owner to serve us accordingly. One of them, something called Volpe (or similar) wasn't very good, the guy there probably took the mickey, while the other was decent. We used Pienza as a base for trips to Montalcino and Montepulciano, where we stocked up on wine. Once the owner lady saw us with bottles of wine, she gave us a complimentary bottle of wine out of her own produce. Nice touch.
