“Peaceful and Quaint in Tuscan Hills”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

Stayed at Villa del Capella in the middle of May. The villa is gorgeous and really quaint. Our room was called Ciclamino which was on the 2nd floor with a view over the pool and the Tuscan valley. Just gorgeous. You can open the window and just look at the beautiful scenery. The room is rather large and has a lot of space. The bed was a king size bed and was comfortable. They do have a shower attachment in the tub, but their is no shower enclosure, so if you take showers, you have to be careful not to spray the whole bathroom. That was probably the only drawback to the room. The breakfasts were very good with lots of choices. They also asked if you would like an egg for breakfast and then how you would like to have it. That was a good way to start the day.
Sonya is co-owner with her brother, but her brother is not always at the villa. Sonya is. Sonya was a great host, as well as her sister, Paulo. Sonya recommended that we go visit the town of Certaldo before we had our wine tour in the afternoon. That was a great suggestion as we just loved Certaldo. The villa also provides dinner, but it is a set dinner menu. You just need to let them know in the morning if you wish to have dinner at the villa. We had dinner 2 of the 3 nights that we were in the area. The dinners were very good and were worth what you paid since you did get a lot of food. The reason we ate the 2nd time at the villa was because we were just not in the mood to look for a restaurant in the area. The villa is actually probably about 15 minutes from Montespertoli and there really is not much in the area. We did eat at a Taverna in Montablino which is about 10 minutes from the villa. That was a good dinner. We also did not really want to drive when it was dark since you really are not sure where you are going. During the day, it is much better since you can look for landmarks to ensure that you are going the right way. We also relied on our GPS to get us to the villa but it came up short. We were not even sure what road we were on and we just decided that we should head to Montespertoli on the road that the GPS had us on. We came down a hill and saw an intersection where there were a few houses or villas. We decided to stop and see if someone could help us with directions and lo and behold, it was Villa del Capella. The sign for the villa was obstructed by some trees or growth.

The villa is actually located in a pretty decent central location to the various Tuscan towns and is so quiet and quaint. Would recommend this to anyone who just wants peace and quiet and easy ways to all of the quaint Tuscan towns.

Room Tip: Request rooms that overlook the garden to the Tuscan Valley. 3rd floor would be best.

This hotel is very quaint and away from the tourist traps. The people working there were very friendly and very helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we were having a great time. They made us feel very welcome during our entire stay. We also did the hot air balloon ride with them and had an excellent time! What a wonderful experience. Very peaceful ride and the day we chose could not have been better!

We stayed at this family-run hotel for 3 nights. Upon our arrival, Sonia picked us up in town as we did not have a car rented. We were given our choice from several rooms, and chose the Papavero. We were the only ones in the building, separate from the main rooms of the hotel. Sonia's was kind enough to book us a private winery tour, which her husband escorted us to. The guest dinner was a lovely way to meet people from all over, and enjoy an authenice, delicious meal.
We had also booked a sunrise balloon ride, however the hotel's balloon was broken so they had gone through the trouble of organizing a ride with a fellow balloon company. And again, Sonia was up before sunrise to drive us to our meeting location, and picked us up after the ride.
Overall this stay way very calm and quiet, we were even the only ones at the pool for an entire afternoon. Sonia will treat you like family and go out of her way to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Recommend having transportation so that you can get around the countryside a bit more, if that's something you're interested in. We had a lovely time staying around the hotel most of our stay!

We stayed for two nights in October and had a lovely time despite the disappointing weather. The staff are very friendly and helpful which made our stay even more special.
The hotel organises days out for the guests but if you want to do your own thing I would recommend hiring a car because taxis are scarce.

Would definitely go again.

Thank you all at Villa La Cappella, for a super holiday. Patricio is an informative and organised leader. His wife and staff are superb hosts, taking care of all our needs, including feeding us all well, and teaching us to cook, even on occasion acting as chauffeuse. We visited interesting sights, and walked through lovely places. They even managed to find great company for us! I particularly enjoyed the balloon flight on our last evening, ticked another box on my to do list. I would reccommend this trip and am also trying to persuade my painting teacher to try to arrange a painting holiday there so that I have an excuse to return. My only gripe would be that everyone speaks such good English that I had no chance to practice my Italian!

We spent five days here in September and had.a wonderful time.My wife and I have been to Tuscany many times but this time we brought her mum for her first trip to Italy and she loved it. The owners of the hotel,Patrizio,Diana, and Sonia and really nice people and go out of their way to help and make your stay a really good experience. You can book a balloon flight with Patrizio, and he does a good guided walk we were told by other guests. The food is as local as it can be and great home cooking. The rooms are a good size and well furnished, huge gardens and pool, plenty of sunny places to sit and read your books and sip your wine. Just remember this is a family run friendly hotel not a five star luxury palace where you will be waited on. Cannot wait to return next year for Patrizios classic car run.

Room Tip: Book early to get a room in the main house.

My sister and I spent 8 days at the Villa, participating in the Autumn Walking Tour. This family owned and run villa is beautiful. Our suites were clean, comfy, and spacious. The owners, Patrizio, Sonia, and Diana, have put their heart and soul into designing, building, and running this gem in the hills of Tuscany. Patrizio was our guide for the walking tour. He is passionate about his homeland, very knowledgeable, and eager to please his guests. If you are looking to see parts of Tuscany that most tourists don’t see, Patrizio is the guide for you. You will have the opportunity to taste the ‘best’ gelato in Italy, and dine in little known restaurants overlooking the cities.
The food was excellent. All of the staff was excellent, eager to answer all of our questions and accommodating our needs. Our shoes were even washed and delivered after a muddy day in the vineyards! Thank you Sonia. Manuela was exceptional in the dining room. She is obviously a dedicated employee and goes out of her way to please. She made an impression on everyone.
I will definitely return should my travels take me back to Tuscany.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front may have some noise from the street.
