Our family had a wonderful 20 day stay in Villa Terrazza in La Gigliola. The views are amazing. Every time we looked out our window, we are reminded of why Italy is such a spectacular place. Rolling fields of vines and olives. It's simply breadth-taking.
Villa owners Anna and assistant Christina is always around to provide a helping hand. Their hospitality will touch you. La Gigliola also produces some of my favourite wines, grappa, vin santo and olive oil. We were surprised when they left 2 bottles of complimentary wine when we booked into the villa.
In the villa, you will find a fully equipped kitchen, heating, beds with clean sheets, towels, hot showers and bath tubs. The furnishing is very rustic and and exquisite. Anna also left some locally produced shower gels and moisturizers made from olives.
If you are accustomed to driving in italy, the supermarket is a quick 5 minute drive away. Alternatively, there is a restaurant just outside the villa. If you are looking for a quiet getaway from the city and to bask in the great scenery and fine wine, La Gigliola is the place for you.
You can visit http://www.lagigliola.it for more information about the villa.
Travel tip: If you are unaccustomed to right-handed driving, you might wish to look for a chauffer/driver instead. Transfers per trip is about $60-$80 euros depending on destination.
