Marina di Pisa was once a glorious place with grand aspirations. Now it's a bit down at the mouth, but this hole in the wall along the sea front is a truly worthwhile experience, worth the detour. Especially on a sunny Spring day like today. The ricci di mare (sea urchin) tagliatelle was as fresh as fresh could be and tasted of the sea, the Sciolina ( a white fish , a fish that I have no idea of the name of in English, nor even what it would be called half an hour away in Lucca) filet in a potato crust (a bit like rösti) was light and perfect. The zagare (again a local word) was a perfect simple lemon cake with a light yogurt frosting drizzled on it. We got the perfect Spring sunburn eating on the sidewalk, looking out at the sea. No tourists. The credit card machine wasn't working, so double check.
