“Charming and comfortable villa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We spent five days in Villa Belpoggio in the beginning of August and we loved it. We are a Brazilian couple with two boys (10 and 13 years old) and my mother and we stayed in two confortable and very tidy rooms.
The couple room (Junior suite) has a lot of space, very comfortable king bed, a clean bathroom and a living room with a bed to our young boy. The other room (Arco) was also very pleasant and comfortable with two single beds and shower/bath tub.
The villa is located atop a hill with a beautiful view of the valley (small cities and farms). It is located around 3 km of Loro Ciufenna and was easy to find (we rented a car). The silence is relaxing! Each day we travelled to some places around Loro Ciufenna (Arezzo, Siena, Firenze, San Gimignano) and the hotel location is good for a day-trip.
But the best part is the staff. We felt like at home and Paola, Maria, Agnese and Johnny were so kind and friendly! The breakfast is really special with fruits, jams, cakes, cheese, prosciutto... Delicious! Our two boys really appreciated the food!!!
I really recommend this hotel to everyone and for sure would return in a future trip to Tuscany. It is really worthwhile!!!

Room Tip: Our suite at the second floor is super as well the Arco room in front of the garden. The summer was...

This is a fantastic place to stay if you want to relax after a day of sightseeing in Tuscany. It is high up in the countryside amid olive groves and vineyards, with lots of working farms nearby. With spacious charming rooms, fine furnishings, and a fantastic assortment of foods for breakfast, you will feel right at home immediately (or at least you will wish it was home!). The ambiance continues outside on the jasmine-scented terrace, where you can sip a glass of wine and watch the sunset to the west over the hills. There are some really good restaurants not far away, which the hosts, Maria and Agnese will be happy to recommend. Try getting a reservation at Il Burro.
The warmth of the hosts, the calm and beautiful surroundings, the proximity to Firenze, and to the Chianti region make this a place to return to-- bring those you love.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the front, for views to the west.

We booked the Delicious Tuscany package and could not have been happier. The package included a 5-course dinner the night of our arrival, a cooking class, and wine tasting. All 3 of those elements were fantastic and exceeded our expectations. The dinner on property was intimate and delicious - Paola did a wonderful job of serving everyone and making sure guests were happy. The cooking class is in a picturesque town - "Borro" - at an incredible restaurant called Osteria del Borro. We learned so much about Tuscan cooking and then ate one of the best meals of our life - the only 2 people in the restaurant (they are closed for lunch). The wine tasting took place at a 1000 year old abbey in the Chianti mountains, surrounded by an old monestary and beautiful gardens.

Belpoggio was a fantastic choice - the service from the staff is amazing - nothing is too much trouble. They provided great recommendations for places to go in the area for dinners and always had a map or suggestion to share before we were heading out for the day.

I actually loved the location - the scenery you get is more mountainous than other parts of Tuscany - it's absolutely stunning. We also really enjoyed Loro Ciuffena, the little town that's nearby. Go stroll around one evening and look at the working water mill that's right in the center of town. It doesn't get more picturesque.

It's a convenient 30 minute train ride to Florence if you are interested in going there for a day trip.

We loved our stay and most definitely want to return in the future. Thank you Belpoggio for making our Tuscany vacation so amazing!

We chose this hotel for its quiet yet accessible location about 35k from Florence. ( take the train as it is only half an hour)The staff, Maria, Anaisia and Paula are extremely charming hosts who all made our 11 day holiday an exceptional one. Thank you all so much.
Rooms are spacious and beds extremely comfortable. Breakfasts delicious. Stunning location and lots of restaurants within driving distance. We have been travelling to Italy for 12 years now and have stayed in some very fine hotels with lots of facilities but we both enjoyed this the most and cannot wait to return. The staff are exceptional and are always gracious and helpful with a delightful sense of humour!!

Situated well back from a winding country road, about midway between Arezzo and Florence, Belpoggio was a friary and has its own church across the terrace from the main house. Get driving instructions, because the GPS might not recognise the precise location. The welcome is charming and unhurried. It might include a proud history lesson (in Italian) by 82-year old auntie Signora Rosi, whose family lived here before the friars and whose tombstones are in the church.
There are beautiful apartments for families and spacious rooms for couples. Beds are very comfortable and bathrooms large and luxurious. Floors are of stone and the walls are thick, so wifi is only possible in the public rooms and terrace. Breakfast is delicious.
There are spectacular, long views from the rooms and gardens, a spacious terrace for breakfast, a large swimming pool, and ample parking.
There is a superb restaurant 5 minutes drive down the road, where you are served by a helpful, knowledgeable wine-buff who lived in Scotland and speaks good English.
The multilingual ladies who run Belpoggio are all delightful. They give good advice on walking and touring plans.
A perfect stop, either overnight, or as a hub for touring this wonderful region.

Belpoggio means 'beautiful hill' which sums up the setting perfectly. The accommodation was all that we expected from the Trip Advisor reviews, comfortable beds, rustic decor with plenty of space for clothes and dressing. The showere was a little disappointing given that we are used to a power shower, and the breakfasts, whilst good, were a bit samey (therefore strawberries one morning were a treat!), but I'm being picky. Stay here for the accommodation and for trips to to local restaurants - breakfast is the only meal served so be prepared to drive for dinner or walk 3.5 k to the nearest restaurant. Our hosts were friendly and extremely kind, always ready to help out with bookings, directions and a glass or two of wine.

We only stayed for one night on the day that we arrived Rome. The drive was a little rough but it was all worth the effort. We were also lucky enough to join them for dinner. The room is in good size and the bathroom is nice and clean. The room is on the 3rd floor with a common room outside. It is perfect for us traveling with a 11 month old baby. She can sleep in the room while we were chilling outside. The bed is comfortable. The staffs who worked there were friendly and knowledgable.
