“The best hotel in the best resort on Lake Garda”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

My wife & I stayed in a first floor room with a balcony. This room was just magical wit the best view on Lake Garda. Salo is the most beautiful of all the Garda towns and it has its ow special charm. The shops are very much to my wife's tastes and the multiple choice restaurants are to mine!
The Hotel Benaco is charming with the most helpful staff you will find anywhere in Europe! Literally nothing is ever too much trouble.
The hotel Restaurant is among the best in Salo and breakfast served next the promenade is bliss!

Room Tip: Try to book a lake view room.

We stayed for two nights in a room on the second floor, and unfortunately not overlooking the lake.
Room clean and well equiped with a comfortable bed also for my son (5 yo).
The TV is into the wardrobe...strange but we weren't there to watch the TV :-)
All members of the staff, were friendly and helpful.
Great breakfast and very good dinner
The promenade outside the hotel is simply fantastic
Places not to miss :
Osteria dell'Orologio (Via Butturini nr. 26, on the back of Benaco Hotel) for lunch/dinner...after hours....aperitif before lunch/dinner
Al Baretto (close to Benaco Hotel on the left) for aperitif before lunch/dinner (a must is the "Pirlo" wowwww)
Antica Trattoria Alle Rose (Via Gasparo da Salo, 33), a sort of gastronomic restaurant...simply the best

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony overlooking the lake

This is a small hotel right on the promenade in Salo. Getting here from Verona airport is a challenge & expensive. Bus to train station 6 Euro each Train to Desanzano 12 Euro's each. Then it got really difficult. Buses are infrequent (cheap 2,90 each) Ferry is slow 1 hour & 10 mins & only 1 fast service per day at 4pm so we took a taxi. 50 Euro's later we arrived at our hotel (return journey was 40 Euro's ?????). Our room was clean & comfortable if a little small, especially the bathroom. the room was very clean linens very nice & a comfy bed so all good. Nice selection of toiletries, shower slippers & fresh fluffy towels . It faced a little back street. There is no air con only a ceiling fan & no chance of sleeping past 7.30am if you leave window open. Breakfast was a selection of very tasty fruit, cereals, boiled eggs, toast etc served on the terrace overlooking the lake (Magical!!) We had dinner here one evening & it was very, very tasty. I had the fish of the day & it was delicious. The staff are this Hotels best asset. All of them are friendly, efficient & extreemly helpful with info on day trips, boat times etc. If I were in Salo again i would happily book this hotel again if in Salo but next time we would hire a car .....

Room Tip: We booked late & no lake view rooms available but were not in room much so no worries .....

This was our second visit to this excellent hotel. Only 3 stars plus but it´s much more. The location could not be better.
This year we had two rooms and they where both nice and cosy. The room on the third floor had air-conditioned but the one on the second floor only had a ceiling fan.
The food is excellent - you have to stay in for dinner. We also visited a restaurant nearby that is run by somebody related to the landlord of Hotel Benaco. I can not remember the name but you will get it in the reception...
This restaurant is the only place in Salo where you will find the same excellent food as the hotel. Maybe even a little bit better?
We where happy to find the hospitality just as good as last year and even though it was late in the tourist season the staff was just as charming as last year.
We can highly recommend the hotel to anybody who wants to visit Salo

We: 4 adults plus a large dog

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony overlooking the lake. We had the same room this year as we had last...

We stayed at Hotel Benaco for 4 nights Sep 5-9, 2012. We absolutely loved it. I have been to Lago di Garda many times but never slept in Salo. This boutique hotel is a perfect place. It is situated along the lungolago, one of the the widest promenades you'll see on the lake. The best way to get to the hotel is by boat! It is just a few steps away from the boat dock. Convenient to get to other beautiful cities on the lake. But the bus stop is also close by.
We heard the food was good and planned to eat dinner there, but we were so busy with tours and family visits we regret not having the opportunity. A reason to return. Breakfasts were outstanding. Fresh fruit, pastries, eggs to boil plus all the other good Italian fare. And the view of the lake while dining outdoors was priceless. Best cappuccino on the trip, each cup was made fresh. Great way to start the day.
No air conditioning, but a good fan to cool the room. Clean, lovely and a nice staff. Very accommodating. Free Internet, mini fridge and hair dryer. Nice bathroom.
Salo is a happening little town....always seemed to be something interesting going on. But just the walk along the promenade is good enough. Pay the few euros extra for a room with balcony and view of the lake. It's fun to watch the people and the boats come and go.
Cute little shops in town including one that sold all kinds of packaged foods, beautiful bakeries and a fruit stand by the big clock. Lots of history in Salo. And the Saturday mercato is one of the best.
This 3 star hotel will not disappoint. We shall return.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony view of the lake. The windows keep out any promenade noise (if any) at ni...

This hotel, on the bank of Lake Garda is a little gem. We stayed for three nights in a room on the first floor, overlooking the lake. The views were stunning. The room was clean and well equiped wiith a comfortable bed, ample wardrobe space, a safe, fridge and an ensuite bathroom. Although there was no air conditioning, there was an efficient ceiling fan and we slept with the balcony doors open. All of the staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was exquisite (especially the locally caught fish) and breakfast offered a huge range to choose from with the added bonus of eating it outside, overlooking the lake. You can just take your time and watch the world go by. Overall, a fabulous hotel in a stunning location - we want to stay for longer next time.

Room Tip: Some rooms, on request, have a beautiful view of the lake.

This was our second visit to this excellent hotel. Only 3 stars but it´s so much more. The location is second to none. We ate breakfast on the terrace 5 metres from the lake with a view to die for.
The food is excellent - you have to stay in for dinner - the best around.
The rooms are smallish but nicely renovated and all one needs as on wants to be outside in the lovely town of Salo or on a boat on the lake all day anyway. The breakfast with it´s large variety of fresh fruits, homebaking, cereals, cold meats, cheese sortiment and the best hot chocolate I ever had has you wanting to stay there all day.
The rooms are 3 star size but the hospitality is first class and the food 5 star.
I will be back.
