We have just returned from a week here with Newmarket Travel. After reading mixed reviews of the hotel we went with an open mind. We were very pleased with the friendliness of all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a room at the front but did not have any problems with noise at all. The room was perfectly adequate and spacious and very clean. We would have liked tea making facilities in the room but that is a british thing! One review said that they were disappointed about no english speaking TV channels other than CNN. Most people do not go to Italy to sit and watch TV. We had lovely food and something for everyone and different choices every day. At least it was all fresh cooked local produce and not frozen food that most places in UK seem to use. All in all we enjoyed our stay there and if we ever go back to that area would certainly stay there again. Thank you Delle Palme

The staff are delightful at this hotel. They all work very hard, and look like they are all proud of the hotel. It was like stepping back in time here, with a colonial feel and 3-course dinners. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Our room was not large, but adequate with loads of wardrobe space and plenty of hangers, for a change. The bathroom was quite a snug room, with a startling lilac toilet seat and matching shower curtain. Please, consider it quaint; everything seems to have been done with such pride. The balcony was small, but just big enough for a couple of small chairs - unfortunately, there weren't any, which was the biggest let-down. I really wanted to sit on that balcony and eventually took a chair out from inside, but it didn't feel the same as having a couple of balcony chairs out there. We overlooked the rear, so could see the swimming pool and gardens. The trees rather obscured the view of the sea, which was a shame, but there was delightful birdsong to compensate, apart from which the rear room was delightfully quiet. There was a TV in the room, but the only English-speaking programme was CNN. Good job I didn't go there to watch TV. Firm beds! It was a shame there weren't tea and coffee-making facilities in the room, but then this is a 3-star hotel, not 5-star. The corridors from the room were a bit gloomy. There was a small 2-person lift, but a wide staircase. Everywhere was very clean. Reception area is apparently manned 24 hours but I didn't test this myself. There is wifi in the reception area which doesn't stretch any further and 2 tables and chairs. There was a vast amount of seating everywhere else with large sofas. I saw one person listening to the CD player in the lounge on afternoon. There is a piano also in the lounge area. The dining area is vast. Breakfast is served from 7 to 9, buffet-style, with cereals, cornflakes or muesli, croissants, cake, bread at the table which was lovely, and sliced bread for the toaster. The toaster appears to operate in the Italian way, with the toast coming out white so I put it through twice. One day there was yogurt, but generally I missed fruit/yogurt for breakfast. The juice was, as described by others, somewhat watery, but I enjoyed the orange juice this way. Unfortunately, there was only orange juice for the first 3 days, then grapefruit juice which I didn't really enjoy. The tea and coffee was not very nice. I tended to stick with the jugs of iced water. Dinner was one sitting with waitress-service, served at 7pm, which I felt was a little early, but I could have chosen bed and breakfast only. The service at dinner was magnificent. No waiting and speedy service, effected with precision. I have read negative comments about the food which I feel are rather unkind. You get what you pay for! We paid for a package and I'm guessing the hotel did not get a huge slice of the cash, so need to operate to a budget. 'Quaint' was a description by another reviewer, which seems accurate. Dinner had to be selected at breakfast time, which was ok by me. They obviously cooked everything from fresh. There were 3 choices for the started and main course. I found the starters the best, with soup or pasta choices. There was always plenty of food. Main courses were generally a bit 'school dinners', but I never found anything unpalatable. There wasn't much veg on offer; there was once or twice a salad with the hot meat. We has a 'surprise' meal mid-week. Te staff put in enormous effort; candlelit tables with flowers and decoration, there was music, and pizza. The staff were clearly and justifiably proud of their efforts. There didn't appear to be an outside terrace for eating which was a shame, but then the weather was not perfect when we went. You were allocated a table on your first night, which was the one you sat at for the rest of the week. Outside, at the front of the hotel was a large terraced area with tables and chairs. The rear of the hotel had large, well-tended gardens and a swimming pool with plenty of loungers round it. Very nice. There was a bus stop almost opposite the hotel which will get you to Sorrento, or there was a delightful pathway, largely undisturbed by cars. We were given a map for this walk. We would not have discovered it otherwise. Much quicker than the road way, but quite steep and we caught the bus back! Had to be quite fit to walk down to Sorrento, would never have made it back! Santa Agata itself does not have much to offer. There is a lovely looking church, and a monestary a walk away (uphill) from where you can climb to a roof terrace for fabulous views. Anyway, back to the hotel. I found it quaint, exceptionally clean, and the staff absolutely charming.

Room Tip: I read it was noisier at the front. Our rear room with balcony was very quiet.

Can we say thank you, to all the Staff of the Delle Palme Hotel. We went with Newmarket Holidays, from Nowrich. The staff were very helpfull and courteous, especialy the Hotels owner & her Brother.

The food was basic, but interesting! It would be nice to have Fruit & Yoguarts for Breakfast.

Also comming from the Region of Campania where lovely Tomatoes grow, I was disapointed not to have had any.

The Hotel was a lovely old building, goes back to the 19thcent, lovely high ceilings, it was like stepping back in time, dont ever change it.

Dear Susan and Joy,

we would like to thank you for the very good comments made to our staff, food and hotel.
We quite agree that the hotel needs no changes in its style and traditional interior decoration.
Today hotels all look more or less the same, we have tried to preserve the orinal characteristics
and its " Soul"-
We have worked for the last 20 years with the same British company and our notice board is full of letters thanking us.
We would also like to add that it is true that the Campania is famous for its tomatoes but the season starts from June to September the ones that you could see in the shops at the moment are imported.
Also in Italy it is not a custom to have tomatoe salad for breakfast.
We would like to thankyou anyway even through we were a little disappointed with the final 3 points given to us and thought that you could been more generous.
Never mind! That is OK and the life goes on !

Nice hotel with a beautiful garden and a swimming pool. Hotel staff are very corteous and friendly. The typical italian cusine (food) served in the restaurant area is of a high standard. An excellent place to stay and great area with lots to see and do.
We were a group of people from Poland and we stayed in Hotel delle Palme for a week.
We recommend this hotel !!!!

I've just come back from a week at Delle Palme hotel. The trip was through Newmarket Travel. I read some reviews before I went and was a bit worried about the food as people complained about the quality and amounts. Well I am glad I took no notice! The hotel was lovely. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great pool with enough sunbeds for all and towels put out for you so you didn't have to use your own. As for the food there was plenty. Large starters, 3 decent choices and served hot.
The courier, Guilliana, was absolutely lovely and very informative. Trips were great and well organised.
If you get a chance do the little train trip. Pretty scenery and the 2 taster stops were excellent.
The smoking cat bar is friendly and has helpful staff for an evening out. Little bakers just after it has some delicious little cakes only 1 Euro each. If you want a delicous meal go to Stuzzichino turn left out of hotel and walk for about 2 minutes. Wonderful Italian food. Book if you go for an evening as busy.
Bus stop virtually across the road to get to Sorrento.
Would certainly recommend the hotel to people going to Italy.

Lovely hotel with so much atmosphere. It is immaculately clean, comfy beds, clean linen & towels etc. My single room was very spacious with lots of storage. Free safe in the room
The staff are wonderful so friendly & nothing is too much trouble. They make you feel so welcome like part of the family. The food was very good with the homemade soups & the pasta to die for.
Lovely grounds with places to sit & a nice size outdoor pool.
It is 2mins away from the bus stop to Sorrento (15mins journey) & you get the benefits of a smaller, quieter location with places of interest on your doorstep. I cannot rate it highly enough.
Tiny cafe over the road (just two tables) serves the best pizza in Italy (its frequented by the locals) & only costs 4euros

Room Tip: Best rooms are at the back
