“Villa Romita”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in the Villa Romita which was basic but very characterful with comfy beds and large clean rooms. The views from here and the rest of the hotel are fantastic and the facilities are brilliant. It is great being up on the hill behind Sorrento and the regular free shuttle bus into town means it is easy to visit. Also, not mentioned in the details, you can walk for 5 mins to a small town behind the hotel which has a range of restaurants and small shops - great for an evening out.

Room Tip: Villa Romita whilst being gourgeous does have very noisy doors so you tend to get woken up by early...

The hotel was immaculate, the staff wonderful and very helpful. The view over the Bay of Naples was like a picture postcard. Words and pictures cannot fully describe it.
My next trip to Italy we will definitely be staying here. We own a home in the Molise region and this was a different side of Italy we truly appreciated. Can't wait to return. Thanks for a great stay!!!

As a group of 5 family members & 8 friends, we stayed a the Villa Romita, which is part of the Grand Hermitage Hotel & that is a big plus! We were able to use all the amenities of the hotel. The staff always greeted us with a warm, friendly smile and Renato ,the owner was always excited to help us with tour suggestions. Our rooms were spacious & very clean with beautiful tile floors! The panoramic views from here were amazing & I liked not being in a place hanging off a cliff! We were able to use their shuttle bus (with a reservation) to take us to Sorrento, about a 15 min. drive.Another plus! After a day of touring,we were able to relax @ their pool or bar area with a cocktail or espresso! As others have stated ,the small town of St.Agata was a 5 min. walk from the hotel, with some shops & restaurants...another plus+++We all said we would return & that makes it easy not to have to research another place! It was a perfect trip with the help of everyone @ the Grand Hermitage Hotel/Villa Romita!Thank you,Renato,Salvatore,William,Franco& Antonella and staff !!!!!!!!!

The views of Sorrento, the northern Amalfi Coast, the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius are incomparable from this property. A lot of pretentious hotels are located on this hill, but the Hermitage is right at the summit - both in terms of actual location and services. Rooms on the panoramic side are by far the best. But the ones facing a forest at the back of the property are cool, dark and relaxing. Besides, if your room doesn't have a view, you can always sit out by that fabulous pool. The on-site restaurants are worthy of note; there's a lavish spread for breakfast; tasty choices for lunch in the snack bar, and a classy dinner available in the main dining room. A real favorite for weddings and special occasions. Staff is courteous, helpful and hard working.

Room Tip: A room with a view, please!

I stayed here as part of a group and we were all most impressed with the staff's friendliness and helpful nature. Being such a close walk to St Agata with its shops and restaurants was an unexpected bonus, but unless you took that five minute walk you wouldn't realise as it is so quiet and peaceful in it's picturesque mountain setting. A pre dinner drink in the spacious lounge allowed us to take in the views of the mountains and Sorrento below. A great launching point for trips to Sorrento, Amalfi and Positano, then back up to the hotel to escape the crowds directly on the coast.

The sea view rooms have a fabulous view of the sea. The hotel is very clean and well cared for, with beautiful tile floors. The staff are extremely pleasant and accommodating. The dinner specials are a good value for 15 Euro.
There are however a lot of tour bus groups that come through for a nights stay; however when their bus leaves early in the AM the guests are very loud and make a lot of noise while trying to get their luggage down and on the bus. They need to be reminded that other guests are sleeping. We purposely chose this hotel because we thought it would be quieter than one closer to town. Also their shuttle bus does not run on Sunday and if the city bus is full it will pass you right by, and you must wait one hour for the next bus.
Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our 8 days at the Hermitage.

Room Tip: a room with a sea view is worth every penny!
