Our trip to Italy was beyond memorable! The hotel accommodations, staff and location of La Darsena/Agropoli were perfect for enjoying the "real" Italy and leaving the touristy side out of it. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating and the price was fabulous for everything that was included - clean, comfortable, quaint accommodations, all meals included, a bottle of wine at both lunch and dinner, comfortable loungers on the beach with umbrellas, spotless beach bathrooms, lovely outdoor covered lounge area with tables adjacent to the bar, planned outings if interested, maps and local information/internet access available for planning your own trips and personal usage. We have anaphylactic food allergies(fish, seafood & peanuts) and prior to our trip I emailed a translated letter stating this and the kitchen staff were happily prepared for us, and made sure all of our food was safe. The food was simply delicious and there was always plenty of it! We rarely ate all of the courses, as it was just too much for us. When we returned late the one night after our excursion to the Isle of Capri, we had missed supper. The kitchen staff were so kind to prepare a plate of cold meat, cheese, fruit and breads to ease our tired hunger after a wonderful day of exploring. Note if you are from ON, Canada pass by the temptation to spend the $(we spent $90 CAN for 3) on the boat trip to The Blue Grotto on The Isle of Capri; it is not even close to the beauty of The Grotto at The Bruce Peninsula Nat' Park and you are taken in and out of the grotto there in 2 minutes flat and not allowed to swim, dive, etc. The train is an inexpensive, safe way to travel all over Italy and is easy to navigate; scootering in Agropoli was a fantastic way to see all of the amazing views! If traveling to Naples(a must in our minds) once arriving via the train(DON'T scooter in Naples; it is CRAZY for driving, but very entertaining to watch as a pedestrian!HA!HA!) make your way to the tourist information office. They are wonderful and will help you find exactly what you want to see via maps that they will give you for historical sites and shopping areas and of course the best places to enjoy PIZZA! Do not miss out on the treasures to be found in Paestum - the ruins & museum are unbelievable and the town itself is small, uncrowded and quaint. Everyone is soooo friendly in Italy; we made international friends so easily and this helped make our trip even more spectacular as we were allowed to "get inside their lives" and truly experience Italy and all that it has to offer. The only disappointment was that we had to leave very early on our last day to accommodate another Canadian group that had a much earlier flight than ours. I have never been anywhere that I had tears upon departure; words cannot explain how much we enjoyed the culture, the history, the food and the people of Italy!( & don't forget Bella, the friendly little dog that we fell in love with at La Darsena) We'd go again in a minute.
