“Nice place next to castle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed a one night stay at the hotel so I could see Trim Castle and the nearby Newgrange. My room literally looked over to the castle which made for a pleasant evening and morning walk. Trim is a nice little town and the Abbey ruins down the river are well worth the walk from the hotel. The room was spacious by European standards. The included breakfast was good.

Stayed June 2013, traveled solo

Stayed at this hotel when attending a friends 40th birthday party. The food was of a very good standard, the rooms were excellent and the service was second to none. Drinks on the balcony with a view of the castle is a must do.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

Although the architecture is unexciting, this hotel has a superior view of the Trim Castle. Plus the pub and dining room have excellent food and service. The desk staff was VERY helpful and friendly. They even have a nice gift shop! The town of Trim is clean, well decorated with flowers everywhere, easy to get around and friendly. LOTS of ruins and a nice walkway along the Boyne River. We stayed here 4 days and loved it. An easy drive from Dublin

Room Tip: Views of castle from upper floors are great

This hotel was an unexpected surprise. It was a modern, very well equipped hotel with very good service. Breakfast (which was excellent) and dinner were included in our package so it was really good value for money. The hotel is directly opposite Trim Castle and we had a view of the castle from our room. The room was large with a modern bathroom. It is in a good location to use as a base to explore the many attractions in this area. There is also secure parking underneath the hotel at a cost of 3 euros. i would definitely stay here again.

I booked this hotel as myself, my wife and her parents as a special break away. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who looked after us very well. The hotel reception is beautiful, very specious with lovely comfortable seats. We were shown to our rooms, one of which was for disabled people for my father in law, it was an ideal room and he was so pleased at getting this type of room to help him. The Hotel is situated opposite the castle with wonderful views especially from the roof top garden of the hotel. The hotel is situation in an historic village which is well kept, with lovely walks around the castle and beyond. Wifi is available throughout the hotel even in the rooms which is a real bonus as so many hotels just have it in reception.
The hotel offers two restaurant, but we choose the bar restaurant as its menu suited us much better than the other one. Here once again the service was so friendly, especially Joe who is a wonderful character, smiling and rushing around make everything go so well. The food was really tasty on the first night but was a little small in portion, I would have liked much more. On the second night two of us decided to order the smoked fish pie, again a small portion and certainly no sign of any smoked fish. My mother in law had the red Thai curry, this was really small, in reality it looked like a starter portion, however she said it was delicious. Overall I would give a 7/10 for the food and service but do feel portions are too small. The hotel also has superb coffee shop, where there is just too much to choose from, but the scones where out of this world, so good.
One comment of caution though..when you arrive you will see a car park right beside the hotel which we assumed you parked day and night, we where not told that there was an overnight underground parking and so we left our car in the open hotel car park where the car was damaged during the night and wind shields stolen from the car. This was very disappointing as I had just bought the car 4 weeks prior.........so the message to all other customers is to make sure you car is put in the underground car park which is locked at night. Apart from this we enjoyed our visit and would recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: As I said previously, make sure you park your car overnight in the underground car park for safe kee...

Really nice hotel, I stayed here with my Mother, €65 for one night B&B and thought it was great value. The hotel is across the road from Trim Castle, which is worth visiting, there is also a large seating area on the 3rd floor in the hotel, which gives you a a fantastic view of Trim castle and it's grounds. We went to a lovely Indian restuarant around the corner from the Hotel called Khan spices, very tasty food and friendly staff. We unfortunately missed breakfast but had brunch in the cafe, good value and good food, they give you nice big cups of coffee. Overall, would recommend this hotel and will defintely stay here again

We were lucky enough to be invited to Adrienne and Alun's wedding in Trim Ireland. We travelled over by ferry from Troon and drove down. We arrived later than expected due to horrendous weather conditions, but got a very warm welcome from the reception staff. In the morning after a good sleep in a more than comfortable room, we enjoyed a very good selection buffet breakfast. After the wedding service in a beautiful church, we returned to the hotel to sandwiches, coffee and champagne. Perfect. Once the beautiful bride and her fabulous family had their photos taken we were taken through to the reception in a sumptuous room. The hotel laid on a spectacular entrance of the wedding party followed by wonderful food. I was really impressed with the vegetarian option, NOT risotto, (I like risotto but it never looks pretty) after a nice starter, super soup, a pepper stroganoff wrapped in a tortilla with fabulous veggies, lovely desserts and coffee. Everyone was stuffed! The band Spring Break came on and the dance floor was never empty. Later on sandwiches, sausages and wedding cake (Auntie Margaret your baking skills are beyond compare, yum yum), with tea and coffee was served. Don't remember much after but the buffet breakfast the following morning was really good. All the hotel staff from chambermaids through the managers were fabulous. If you're ever in this part of Ireland I would heartily recommend the Trim Castle Hotel. Well done
