“Great B&B in Trim”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

I stayed one night as I was attending a wedding nearby. The room was spacious, reasonably priced and clean. Nice bathroom with excellent shower. Breakfast was homemade and very good. The owner apologised that she didn't get a chance to speak with me (As I had to leave early).
Overal very good and I wouldnt think about staying anywhere else if I was going back to Trim

Highfield House should be a must on every person stay in Ireland. After a month of wandering around Ireland we took our guidebook's advice and stayed in Trim the night before returning our car to the Airport. The B&B was by far superior to many of the places we had stayed in the past month: beautiful rooms that were spacious enough for us to repack for the trip home as well as very clean comfortable. Driving into the airport was quick and easy the next morning. Breakfast was delicious and served by 7:30 a.m. What a treat!!

Room Tip: Wonderful view of river and the donkeys across the way. Gardens are beautiful. Ask for the first f...

This lovely bed and breakfast is conveniently located 45 minutes from Dublin airport and 5 minutes from the largest Norman castle in Ireland. We were greeted at the door by Geraldine who served delicious scones and tea and gave us maps to all the accommodations in the Boyne Valley. Her husband keeps an immaculate arboretum-like garden, including lush hanging baskets. The bedrooms are large and the beds extra comfortable. Our teenage children fed the donkeys across the street with fruit given to us by the B&B staff. From here we visited Newgrange, Knowth, the Hill of Tara and the site of the Battle of the Boyne. The morning we left Ireland, our hot breakfast was ready at 7:30 so we could get to the airport on time. This is Irish hospitality at its finest.

Room Tip: Double room in the right corner of the second floor was perfect overlooking flower gardens and donke...

Highfield House is elegant and every detail meticulously attended to. The care taken in bringing this former maternity hospital to life as a welcoming B&B is only matched by the perfect blend of warmth and professionalism shown by the hosts Edward and Geraldine. We were mistaken about our arrival date and Edward did everything to find us a wonderful alternative for the first night. He even drove us, leading us to a neighboring B&B. We returned the following night and enjoyed the warm scones and even more, the wonderful conversation. The location was beautiful being in the center of things, across from Trim Castle, yet overlooking lush green fields and Boyne River giving the feeling of being in the countryside. An easy ride to the Dublin Airport so a perfect first or last night! We stayed there at the end of June and it was top notch all around! Truly memorable.

Highfield House is the kind of place you imagine when you are looking for a B&B. It is a beautiful Victorian, with antique furniture and cozy touches. Our room was gorgeous, with the most Irish view you can imagine: castle, bright green grass, donkeys frolicking around. Breakfast was generous and varied. Our hostess was quite charming. It would have been a perfect stay if not for the three guys next door. They worked all day and ended up in the pub until 11:00pm, then went on with loud conversation for an hour or two. We endured it the first night, but I finally loudly banged on their door the second night, and they shut up. It's not the owner's fault, so I am still giving 5 stars to the house, but it's a problem that should be resolved.

Room Tip: Compared with our room which was really beautiful, the room next door (with the three rude guys) was...

Want to start your trip to Ireland in style? Drive straight to Highfield House in Trim from the Dublin airport like we did! We were greeted upon our arrival by Geraldine who served us fresh scones and hot coffee as the final preparations were being made in our room. We were shown to our 2nd floor room which had a lovely view of the castle (as well as the gorgeous flowers in the window boxes!) The room was a nice size and very elegant! Geraldine was a lovely hostess and her husband was quite friendly as well. We stayed 3 nights and took the bus into Dublin for two of the days. There is a bus stop just around the roundabout from the house so it is quite convenient! One morning is was sprinkling a bit and we were feeling rushed so Geraldine offered to drive us to the bus stop! I can't say enough how much we enjoyed this stop. The gardens around the house are lovely and the walk to the castle was a highlight for us as it is just across the street. The town is very tidy and cute! We listened to traditional Irish music in one of the pubs our first night (at Geraldine's recommendation). Wonderful!

Room Tip: Second floor with a view of the castle was wonderful!! We had a room with two twins.

My family and I loved this B&B from beginning to end, beautiful interior with warm Victorian décor, we shared a very large family style room for 4 of us. After a long day of travel and touring, we were thrilled with a flat screen TV in the room...and a great bathroom. The home made breakfast was so generous, delicious and we sat overlooking the most amazing garden and terrace. All right across form the Castle and some charming donkeys that the proprietor allowed us to feed apple and carrots to! All very accommodating, highly recommend!
