We probably would not have found this wonderful B&B if we had not been referred by another place just on the roundabout (it is located just outside the town of Trim). But it's a gem--quiet, surrounded by a lovely garden and yard. The hostess Maire went out of her way to welcome us, and even brought a folding cot into the room to accommodate our 5-year-old son who had been sleeping on quilts on the floor of many other B&B's during our 16 day loop tour from Dublin. We were 3 adults and two young boys. The room had a double and 2 twins (plus the cot as mentioned). Maire asked what we would like for breakfast and we each enjoyed a different meal from her menu. I was in heaven with my bowl of fruit and yogurt, the boys enjoyed pancakes and my parents had Irish breakfast. We had been enjoying brown bread during our 3-week visit and this was the first place we finally saw the mix for sale (very convenient). The room was not only clean but filled with luxurious touches like lotions, shampoos, talcum powder, potpourris of lavendar plus a selection of tea and cookies in the room if you wanted to make tea. I highly recommend Tigh Cathain as a place to stay and it is conveniently located near Dublin if you want to arrive the first day after a flight---plus the town of Trim has several sights to visit, most notably the Trim Castle (Braveheart was filmed here). It is quite close to all the Boyne Valley sights as well. Thank you again Maire and slainte!
