“Excellent staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel mainly because the staff was so energetic, friendly and always ready to help.
We appreciated that everything was clean and the food was excellent. The buffet was generous and offered a variety of food which included even some traditional dishes.
The beach was close to the hotel and the swimming pool was clean.
Even if it seemed to be a bit remote, the hotel offered convenient travelling facilities and besides that, the local transport was available and reliable. Besides transport the hotel offers a variety of services like trips that can be booked at the reception, massages etc.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and we recommend it.

Fantastic place to stay without a doubt. On arrival we were greeted with friendly faces and a warm welcome from Julie and Nico. Nothing was too much trouble, any information needed
was given and always with a smile. Our room was beautiful.

Down at the very convenient pool bar John and George kept the drinks flowing.

Breakfast on the beautiful balcony was the best start to the day. Lots of choices and the cheerful waitresses always on hand to help.

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable 8 nights on a beautiful island.

We rented a car through the hotel to take in the sights, sounds and the most incredible views of this amazing island Not to be missed is a drive up the hair pin bends to Ancient Thira. You can also catch a bus from just outside the hotel to Fira and I will never forget the views over looking the caldera. Also booked a trip to the volcano. A lovely boat trip to get there and a swim in the hot springs along the way.

If you are looking for a relaxing, comfortable clean hotel with a private beach, pools, delicious meals from the BBQ and main restaurant at the sister hotel Mediterranean Beach hotel and friendly staff then this is the hotel for you. From there you can explore the island. As we travelled around we concluded we had definitely chosen the right hotel. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

This was our first holiday to Santorini, so we relied on Tripadvisor to make a decision on where to stay. This hotel sounded like it may tick the boxes we required so we took the chance...

After an evening flight we arrived at the hotel just before dinner time ended (we were there All Inclusive, dinner was provided between 19:30-21:30). The receptionist, being aware of this, very efficiently checked us is with all the necessary information, and sent us with the very friendly porter to our room. Room was basic but very clean and spacious. Our double bed made up of two single beds. Large bottle of water provided and a small fridge which worked well. The porter was very conscious that we hadn't eaten and was determined to get us to dinner on time so he guided us down to the Mediterranean Beach where dinner was served (apart from breakfast, this was where lunch and dinner was served, it was about a 5 minute walk away towards the beach). We were very grateful and this started the holiday very well.

Food was served buffet style - always varied, hot and cold choices, very fresh and tasty! One member of our party was vegan and there was plenty of choice throughout the week for them. All staff very attentive, warm and friendly. Matt took the time to speak to us everyday and was interested in where we were from, we felt his attitude was commendable.

As this was intended to be a relaxing holiday, we spent most of our time at the beach and by the pool. The beach was always clean, sunbeds and shades plentiful. The beach is made up of black sand and pebbles. The waves were quite strong so good fun for the more confident swimmer. Not ideal for young children to paddle in. It would be recommended to use sea shoes to protect your feet from the pebbles as it was quite painful walking out to catch the waves sometimes!

When we chose this hotel, we liked the fact there was no evening entertainment, and that's exactly how it was. It was good to finish the evening meal and wander along the beach in peace, or chill out by the pool. Choice of drinks was limited with All Inclusive and only served 10:00-22:00 (you could buy drinks out of these hours) but this suited us fine and we found it prevented other guests from all night drinking. Music was always playing by the pool during the day and evenings, it was pleasant in the afternoon. At the Royal, we found the music was sometimes too loud and too upbeat by the pool, especially at 9:00 in the morning! We would have preferred the music to be a little quieter and begin in the afternoon.

For day trips around the island, the receptionists are very helpful and knowledgable so everything can be booked through them. There is a bus stop very close to the hotel where you can take a bus to locations all around the island. Taxis can be booked and are reasonably priced. There is also a private hotel minibus that can be arranged that can take you to the main cities of Santorini.

At the end of our stay, we had prearranged a transfer to the airport. The airport is very close by to the hotel (this was never a problem even though you can hear the planes outside of your room). There is no need to pre book a transfer before your holiday. A taxi booked from the hotel would have been cheaper for us but we weren't to know that beforehand.

As we arrived at the airport, I realised I had a left a bag in the hotel lobby with gifts we had bought! There was no time to go back to the hotel so I emailed the hotel to check if it was there and for them to look after it. I would eventually have organised it to be delivered back home, or collect it when we come back next year maybe. However, two minutes later I received a reply from the manager saying he was on his way as he was bringing the bag to the airport!! So he did, I was VERY grateful. This very thoughtful action from the manager prevented a sour end to a very pleasurable holiday! Thank you for a lovely week Mediterranean Royal.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the toilets as it can get quite smelly! No lifts, so some walking up and do...

We attended a friends wedding and stayed at this hotel. I would strongly recommend this hotel as it was beautiful.
It was clean, comfortable and the staff were excellent. We went all inclusive and found the food lovely and varied.
If you ever go to Santorini stay here. It has an amazing beach location and their own bus which transport you where you wish to go at reasonable cost.

First of all, there are two different hotels under the same management, but located at about 500 m distance one from the other, Mediterranean Royal and Mediterranean Beach, both of them located far away from Kamari beach (10 min by car) or Monolithos beach (5min by car), not walkable distance to any acceptable beach. The Royal is not even located on the beach, as we assumed when saw the pictures on their website. When you check the hotel's website, for Med Royal, you'll find pictures with the swimming pool from Med Beach hotel, which is located near the "beach" ...better said sea side, since there is no sand but rocks. The pictures are misleading, being posted on their website Images from the other hotel, too... We have stayed there for 7 nights this July, and without renting a car our holiday would have been waisted! The hotel itself is small, acceptable, no wow about it. The rooms are of a good size, some green plants in the inner court bring a fresh impression, the staff is very helpful, the breakefast is good but almost no variation from a day to an other... After a first horrible impression due to its location, we had in the end a good time because we were able to move around and visit the island by renting a car.

Room Tip: A room on the ground floor near the pools.

We enjoyed our stay at Mediterranean Royal. Upon arrival we were offered a terrible room in a round building with the bathroom and toilet at the back behind the bedroom with barely enough room to move for one person, definitely not enough room for two people. We asked for another room. Our other room did not have a double bed but twin beds. Not very convenient but we took it. The beds themselves were very hard with a small cushion. We did not sleep that well in the beds. Outside our room, there was a private jacuzzi which was quite nice with the only problem being, that there were about twenty wasps and flies in the jacuzzi which threw out with a beach ball bat we had on us.

Our hotel did not have a beach but the Mediterranean Beach Hotel which is part of the hotel does have a beach which we could also use. At the Mediterranean Royal Hotel there is a bar at the pool area. The barkeeper Gianni was very nice and forthcoming during the day and during the evening when we were there.

We had all inclusive. The food is mainly grilled meat, mainly pork or lamb, very little fish. During the day it is fine. In the evening you have to get a glass of wine each time except if you order an extra bottle. This is not convenient but we fortunately found a nice waiter Giorgio, at the Mediterranean Beach Hotel (which is where lunch and dinner is served) who poured the wine into a jug and was very helpful with all other issues concerning dinner. Overall, the food in the hotel is average which is why we ate out for dinner several nights.

The guests in the hotel are mostly families or couples like we were. This makes it very calm and relaxing. If you want to have good sun beds, this is quite tedious as many Italians and English guests seem to occupy them by 7 a.m.

In the evening, you can have drinks near the beach at the Mediterranean Beach Hotel. The barkeeper Iliyas is very motivated and tries to fulfill all your needs and even more. He was very nice every time we were there. The barkeeper also stays as long as you want (within reason).

Overall, we had a great vacation. The hotel is definitely not 5 star level. Our bathroom was small and not up to normal central European standards. The reception staff was helpful. We rented a quad bike once which had a problem with its brakes. This is something you should be cautious about because we were lucky not to have any problems with that.

The staff of the Mediterranean Royal and Mediterranean Beach all tried very hard to improve our stay. I can really say that in comparison to other places we have visited the staff's commitment was very high. I would definitely recommend the hotel for a summer vacation.

My name is Angelo Andreopoulos and I am Reservation Manager of Mediterranean Royal & Mediterranean Beach Hotels in Santorini. I practically write this not against my wishes, because I believe that guests opinion shouldn't be respond by hotels, only by other guests opinion. Acknowledging the big support that Trip Advisor provides us, I have to declare that all reviews here we take most seriously in our constant try of improvement. We regret all guests complainants, we thank all the supportive ones. Yet I have decided to write down this note after exchanging some e-mails with a person who wanted a special price, because "your country is on its knees" This is a grave mistake. We always have the Sea and the Sun and the knowledge of hospitality. We always have the personal touch with our guests. We always give them more than one room and breakfast/half board/all inclusive; we give the home feeling, the smile that comes straight from the hart, we teach them the only-on-greek word "kefi". I don't want to say more, only that crisis has given us the chance to watch inside us, restart and improve ourselves. After that we will get out stronger. During that we are better.
