“Clean and basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2011

Albatros was clean and basic, nice pool area. The day shift desk clerk is very rude but the night clerk was very nice and helpful. Located about .75mi from Fira, on a bus route, easy to get to the beach at Kamari and to Oia. Nice bakery/coffee shops across the street with a market around the corner.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights in September 2011. This place was a short walk away from Fira and right across the street from the bus stop. There was a nice pool and the rooms were relatively clean. HOWEVER, the hotel employees were some of the rudest people that I have ever met. They would not help us with directions, bus travel, or any of our questions. They gave us vague answers and ROLLED THEIR EYES at us! We are experienced travelers and all of our questions were valid, but the concierge would rather sit and play on her computer than give us the time of day! Not only that, but they gave us bad advice twice! They overcharged us on a bus tour to Ancient Thera, and they forced us to take a van to the port that cost 3 times as much as the one that picked us up.

Not only that, but the breakfast was AWFUL. Small selection, overcooked hard-boiled eggs. I ended up eating a piece of bread every morning and nothing else.

Please do not stay at this hotel, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else! They do not care about the quality of your vacation!

Nothing special about this place. It is about a mile out of town, and the walk is through a dirty, dingy part of the island (but not unsafe, just ugly). The hotel itself is nothing special; basic room with nothing to recommend it. Linoleum floors, no real furnature, tiny TV, small bathroom with no shampoo. There is a nice pool.

There is nothing around here to do or see. It is just a grungy town with no view and nothing to do but walk into town.

I wouldn't stay here again. It is too far out of town to waste your time at this place. There are plenty of reasonable hotels closer to town.

Room Tip: Choose a room at a different hotel.

not centrally located but not expensive
I would have stayed closer to Fira knowing what I now know.
rent a car and see more of the island

Room Tip: something near the pool

Room was really small but cute and comfortable. Had a room on the lower floor just steps from the pool. Bed was VERY hard and noisy but for me it was the air conditioning that saved the day. After traveling for almost 3 weeks this was first place where the AC actually worked. Hair driers are not in the rooms but a quick request at the front desk fixed that. No Wifi in the rooms but if you have your on equipment you can log in without charge in the lobby.

Place is extremely clean and well worth the price for a 3 star establishment. Don't get the breakfast package. I understand it's about 20 Euros for a cold breakfast and few choices - cold hardboiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, bread, canned peaches, cheese and meat. No toaster.

You are about a 15 minute walk from Fira where you can find lots of shopping. Walk around before you buy. Found the same sandals ranging from 17.90 to 25.00. Food prices are higher if you want to overlook the volcano than if you are further in.

This hotel was nice and clean. The staff was helpful and nice. The room was good size, the bed is very, very low to the ground so if you have knee or back problems you will need to take this into consideration. The show has a lot to be desired: There is a thin fabric curtain that is to go around a very small shower stall water gets everywhere and the curtain will stick to you- lol.
This is within 20 minutes walking distance to Fira - where all the action is. So you will need to rent a car or a scooter to see the island, and to the beaches. Many people rent scooters and it's fun - just not cheap $20 euros a day.
But Santorini itself - has got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Well, one thing I like about this hotel is near Thira and is super clean. The receptionists do speak understandable English. But they do not have Wi-Fi. If you need internet access, you will need to pay them €1.50 for every half hour..
The swimming pool looks much bigger in pictures, the showers are literally for one person. The cleaning ladies do not speak English, and when they are cleaning they are on a mission and won’t wait to hear back a response.. no disturb signs available so.
They can accommodate you with car rental and other tourist attractions.. They are nice, available and attentive..
