“Never had so much fun on holiday!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

Just got back from a brilliant holiday at Filia. From the moment we arrived at 4.30am in the morning with the offer of a free drink by Michael, the owners did everything they could to make it a really fun and memorable holiday. The accommodation itself was what you’d expect from Greek self catering at this type of price. We had a nice room on the quieter side of the complex, with the room split on two levels so although it was a studio the beds were made separate from the kitchen area. As other people have mentioned the shower is pretty small but we just got used to it and it wasn’t a problem. Rooms were kept clean all the time with fresh towels. If you have any issues the guys would be happy to sort it out for you – we found we didn’t have bowls in the room for breakfast but a quick trip to the bar soon sorted that out.

The two pool areas were both lovely. We spent all our time over at Billy’s side where the sun loungers are newer and super comfy for accommodation of this price. And of course Billy provided us with endless entertainment – “all day, all night”! We ate here a few times during the day and it was always cooked fresh by George and reasonably priced. Recommend getting an ice cream too – they were massive!

The apartments are only a minute’s walk from the main road in Stalis where there are lots of nice restaurants and bars. We’d recommend Amici Italian restaurant where we had a couple of really great meals, but can’t say we had a bad meal all holiday. Most nights we’d be back in the hotel bar with Billy between about midnight and 1am, insisting we were having one before bed and often ending up being the last ones to leave around 3am because we were having so much fun with Billy’s endless catchphrases and general craziness. If you’re not afraid of a late night, make sure you get Billy to take you clubbing one night – it’ll be the most fun you have all holiday! If you’re one for early nights, ask to get a room on the quieter side because the rooms on Billy’s side are very close to the bar. There is a quieter bar over that side too where you’ll find Babis who’s really lovely as well.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday and were really sad to be leaving. If you don’t like the basic type of accommodation you expect to find in Greece for this price then you should pay more and book into a soulless four star hotel somewhere – but we’ll guarantee you won’t have nearly as much fun. We’ll definitely be back!

Our family party ages ranged from 20 to 90 which could have been difficult, but the Filia provided everything we could have wished for to make a wonderful holiday.
The Staff and family owners who run the hotel are exceptional, friendly people and cannot do enough to help you enjoy your stay. The brothers Michael, George and Billy who is a one man entertainment, provide all ranges of refreshments, excellent traditional home produced food and will talk to you at any time to advise and help about anything.
The hotel consists of three buildings and two pools, with ample comfortable loungers and sun brollies to relax with ease in the sunshine in total luxury...try the Greek yoghourt and honey with fruit while lying by the pool...lazy days....BBQ night is a must for all with Georges's home cooked foods, and Michael leading the great traditional Greek dancing with Billy providing music, drinks...and additional entertainment! Oh...and Michael and Babis providing everyone with the Raki...lovely!
Rooms are fine and we had no problems, they were clean and sheets and towels were changed whenever needed.
A few minutes away, the street of Stalis is fascinating with its friendly shops and restaurants, and plenty to do for all ages. The beach is just a minute further and with its warm water...very hot sands, you can spend a day there too at any time...try the Sophy Hotel beach area, for the cheapest loungers and friendly cafe.
We will return again as soon as we can this year because each of us had a very memorable holiday experience and want to repeat it.
Thank you Michael and your family and all staff for allowing us to have such a delightful holiday, we highly recommend the Filia Hotel to all who wish for a great holiday experience!

Room Tip: Apparently, the outside bar area noise disturbs some if they are too close because it often goes on...

stayed here for 10 nights with 9 friends ageing between 23 - 50, we were greeted by Billie with a free drink each and crazyness. There is no entertainment as such but you wont need it with Billies antics ( All day all night!) Michael and George are also always willing to help and are friendly. Would definately go back more than once!

Stayed here for 1 week at the end of may with my wife. On arrival at 10 pm we were greeted with a couple of free drinks at the bar with Billy ( the mad barman) then taken to our room. Now one thing my wife wants on holiday is a decent shower which was the real let down of the hotel, the bathroom could do with a little bit of an update as the shower was nothing more the a trickle from a very old shower head. The rooms are very basic but kept clean every day. If you do not want the noise from the bar area email the hotel prior to arrival and request a quiet room which i did after reading the reviews of the noise from Billys bar. This was done with no problems. One word of advice is to book direct as you then get free airport collection and return, free aircon( which is 60 euros p/week) and free safety deposit box). the aircon is a must as the rooms are very hot in the evenings we tried the patio window open approach and were savaged by mosquitos. The bar area and pool area are lovely they have just put in new sun loungers which have very thick ( 5 inch) beds on them which are very comfortable. Fresh cooked food is always available from the extensive bar menu which is cooked to order, sandwiches, pizza, paste, breakfast and its very good value, a sandwich is enough for 2 people and only 4.50 eures. The three brothers that run the hotel can never do enough to help you what ever time of day it is which is a real bonus. Your are only a 2 minute walk from the main strip in Stalis with its restaurants and the beach.
Over all a very pleasant stay but please improve the showers.

We were greeted with a free drink upon arrival like the other reviews said. After this everything went downhill. The room we were given had a balcony overlooking the pool and we might as well have been outside because of the music being so loud. It was 2AM before we got to sleep because of the music and the barman shouting and clapping his hands. We are both in our late 20s but this was ridiculous even for us. We decided to give it the benefit of the doubt with us arriving on a Saturday but it carried on every night and the majority of the day. We trekked the Samarian Gorge on one of the days and had to get up at five after a very late night due to the noise. At one point midweek it was so bad we took some of our stuff and moved to another hotel for a night and that was only because it was fully booked the rest of the time.
The room itself relatively clean but the blankets on the bed looked like they hadn't been washed for weeks and I am not entirely sure that the bites I received while we were there weren't bedbugs.
If you have any sense you would stay away!

Room Tip: Try another hotel!!!!!!

We came here in Sep 2010 for a week, Rooms very basic but a good size even though self catering not very good facilities kitchen was small also the bathroom shower didnt have curtain so floor was always wet. we had very good balcony space with brilliant views. even with the negative about the rooms we would return again. Both pools was lovely and lots of loungers so no strugle to get a bed. We cooked breakfast and dinner in the room but we ate out most evenings we only had out evening meal once in the hotel and that was for the greek night.. best night i have had the food was amazing... very yummie.. both Bar's was very friendly staff in both bars are lovely had some good nights there Billy very funny.
Just outside the hotel is a foot path and it takes 2-3 minutes and you are in stallis strip with lots of bars and restaurants most of the bars and restaurants are 2minutes away from the beach so all have a lovely view. food is amazing in every resturant u eat in. after our meals we would go back the hotel have drinks with billy. very good hotel xxx

These apartments have friendly staff, tasty food and are cleaned daily. The beds are comfy and the balcony we had, had a lovely view. However, if you are looking for a quiet hotel, this is not for you! The bar by the pool is open late playing loud music and the doors of other apartments slam loudly. At the other block of apartments there are sometimes builders very early and drunk people being very loud also.
The price of this hotel attracts an obvious type of clientele, so if you want something a bit more classy pay a bit more.
Our sheets were never changed in the week we stayed but the cleaners are friendly and make the beds and give fresh towels etc.
The worst thing about this hotel is the shower. No power, not always warm and floods the bathroom every time its used.
Overall I had a good time but probably wpuldnt stay there again.
