“Peacefull”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

June 21st to 5th july ,Well this small Hotel is ideal for relaxing, On arrival we were met off coach by the owner, Bags carried for us and taken to our room which was Room no 17 on corner up stairs, at the back we had a great view of Mountains so if it was to hot at front we could take chairs out to back,
less than 5 min to beach and pool ,Nice bar which we used after a walk,it was away from the road .
Well feel i have to say yes the air con, fridge, and safe cost 150 Euros extra for 2 weeks but a must as it was so hot,
We had a fab time and we will go back

Room Tip: Upstairs at back great view of mountain

Great little B&B in good location in Stalis. The owners and staff are very friendly and made our stay wonderful. Rooms small but you wont want to spend too much time there. Great beach across the road and it seems you can use the pools at any of the nearby hotels for a small charge. We loved the beach and the sea, in early June 2012 was warm enough even for me! Nearby restaurants all very similar but very good all the same. Super bar at the hotel - I want to go back!!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are slightly different. Ours was at the side and got the evening sun which is stil...

Stayed here 14th to 21st June 2012
The facilities are somewhat lacking but for value for money and cleanliness the hotel can't be beaten.
The charge for A/C and fridge is a bit of a con when both are needed!
The pool at hotel Ariadne is fantastic although there is a charge for loungers and shade.
Stalis caters to families and older couples although Malia is only 30 mins stroll away!
Eating out is fairly cheap and Kostas Taverna has great food (200 yards left out of hotel)

The Moonlight is a small family run hotel that is very welcoming, clean and well run. It is located in a nicely quiet part of Stalis yet just five minutes walk from the centre of the resort. Breakfast is excellent and good quality with a good selection of varied food and I and my fellow holidaymakers have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to those looking for clean accommodation on a budget. Just check the spelling and grammar of those who have given this hotel a bad review - I believe this speaks volumes!

We're just back from a week at the Moonlight and were very happy with it. The rooms are as you'd expect and the photos on the Thomson site are accurate. The hotel is located a short walk from the main strip of Stalis, there's a supermarket literally just by the gate, a tour operator next door, and the beach is across the road through the grounds of Ariadne Hotel.

It's clean, friendly and quiet, we saw only couples, mother and daughter, and pairs of friends staying there, no large groups or noisy people. The showers were great, instant hot water, and the breakfasts good too- meat, cheese slices, feta, tomatoes & cucumbers, choice of cereals, toast and croissants. The coffee wasn't great but hey.

I would recommend Moonlight to couples looking for an inexpensive, basic, clean and relaxed place to stay, that doesn't have that impersonal resort feel. There are plenty of massive hotel complexes (the Belvedere in particular is huge and looks more like a hospital!); Moonlight feels much more like a guesthouse.

If pushed to find a fault, it's that the Thomson coach transfer from the airport was LONG. It stopped at about 7 places before reaching Moonlight at the end of the line, and we were exhausted. There are also some mosquitoes, but I don't blame the hotel for that. Recommend bringing some DEET or buying a plug-in.

we stayed at the Moonlight Hotel July 2011 and are returning again in Aug 2012. Hotel is in great location and the owner Manos "Big George" and his son "little" George offer a very warm friendly welcome and are a wealth of information on best places to visit/eat. After Continental breakfast its a short stroll - approx 100yds to fabulous pool/garden and beach area - in Hotel directly opposite the Moonlight where you can relax by pool overlooking the sea or take a stroll along beautiful sandy beach. Plenty of restaurants, bars and small supermarket is less than 25 m from hotel and sells everything you'll need at reasonable prices. We stayed in room 21 which is small but has the benefit of a sea view and balcony. There's a variety of water sports on offer at the beach for the more adventurous and lots of good restaurants all within walking distance. Overall I would recommend this Hotel to anyone. It is as described in brochure "Small and Friendly".

Room Tip: Room 21 is small but does benefit from a sea view and a balcony which overlooks Hotel garden area

We staid at the Moonlight for two weeks on our first visit to Crete earlier this year. Greece is one of our favourite destinations and visited quite a few of the island but never been to Crete. We were greeted by the friendly receptionist and shown to our room immediately. When we booked the holiday we decided to go for something mid-range as we tend to explore quite a bit and usually don't spend too much time in the hotel. The room was pretty much what we expected; clean and tidy with everything you need. Although this hotel doesn't have a pool, one is available just across the street at no cost (as long as you have a drink or food). The beach is no longer than a 5 min walk with plenty of choice; most beaches tend to charge for sun beds so make sure you have a quick walk around as some are cheeper then others.
Next day we bought a map from the supermarket next door and started exploring the island; we often stopped for drinks on the hotel terrace and ended up meeting the family that owns and runs the hotel who were more than happy to recommend anything from restaurants to off the beaten track places to see. They were very welcoming and great fun to have a chat with.
Overall, I think we more than got our money's worth and I couldn't recommend the hotel and island enough. If you're unsure, give it a try!!!
