“A Fitting End to a Lovely French Vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012

This chateau was a lovely surprise. We were housed in the older section of the chateau which was completely modernised, with clean luxurious comfort, (good secure free WiFi, flat screen TV, modern bathroom), but still maintained a medieval feel. When traveling, we don't take "dressy" clothes, and we were amused to find that the chateau had two dining rooms--a "casual" dining room, and a more "formal" dining room--to accommodate all travelers! We felt very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our fixed price dinner--4 courses, not 3, with extra touches of thoughtfulness. The breakfast was bountiful and varied...you couldn't reall ask for anything more! Service was very friendly and professional and left us very contented and wishing we had more time there. Many of the visitors were young and had booked using a special internet package...make sure that you check out all options when booking, since we were told that they advertise online frequently!

Stayed at this hotel for a Saturday night and had diner in the restaurant. The hotel is on a very nice location in a quiet area. The people were very helpful. The room was basic but clean and the bed was good. The whole hotel has free WIFI.
The diner was very nice, the menu was no big but I think enough possibilities for everybody. The food was very nice, portions very reasonable and the three course we had should not have been bigger. The breakfast was not too french, meaning more choose, meats, cheese, fruit etc. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice romantic weekend out!

This Chateau has been restored from a poor state and work was completed in 2002. As a consequence you'll find new decor and wonderful bathrooms in which everything works. The rooms are a mixed bag and we moved form a large room which lacked charm to a smaller one which felt more comfortable. Note that this Chateau is not cold since modern double glazing and new central heating is everywhere. The dining rooms are charming and the food very good indeed. We were part of a large group but still experienced some fine dining. The wine list is extensive (nothing cheap on it but then nothing is cheap in "Euroland") and the larger dining room features a glass floor giving an unusual view into the wine cellar. Many local non residents come to eat here; enough said.

Room Tip: Rooms in the Annex feature a walk across the garden to get to the dining rooms and lounge. OK in goo...

We had a groupon package for one night stay in room de charm. It was really lovely! Hotel is slightly outside of chambery, but managed to get thereno problem by bus(only to return u need a taxi). Its lovely located outside of all noises, park is beautiful even in autumn and has a lovely view. Our room was ok, slightly less glamorous as advertised but very nice. Very big bathroom with a nice big tub! We also got a bottle of champagne in the room, which was a great touch. The dinner at restaurant was a cherry on the sunday! For breakfast it was much bigger than standard in France so perfect. The place has a bit old style feeling, but that's the charm!!

We are a young couple and we went there last New Year´s Eve. We´ve never seen such a bad service at the restaurant. Bad food, very rude waiters and extremely slow serving dinner (more than 4 hours for dinner is unaceptable!).By far very expensive for the service and food quality offered. Totaly UNRECOMMENDED and DISSAPOINTING. We sent a complainning letter to the manager but no anwer got yet.
Nice rooms and friendly reception staff.

We had a lovely two-night stay at Chateau des Comtes de Challes. Our room was very comfortable. Only downside was that the fan in the bathroom wasn't working very well, so the floor got a bit slippery from the steam after two people having a shower.

The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The set menu available on a weekday evening was very good value at either €26 or €29. The service was a little sporadic. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we were there, so we would have expected the waiters to have been more attentive.

The reception staff were helpful. The setting of the hotel is lovely with a beautiful terrace where you can enjoy refreshments during the day or in the evening.

All in all we would recommend this hotel to our family and friends. We would certainly go back there again.

We stayed here during a family function. The hotel is set in lovely grounds, with easy access to the surrounding area. The staff were all very helpful, including with special requests for the children. The hotel and in particular the restaurant get quite busy (we visited during the European summer), but one can have the right level of privacy none the less. There is a pool, internet connection, excellent food. Some of the hotel's rooms are smaller than others, but all are comfortable - it's an old building which means it is not all standardised (part of the charm).
