“Too much noise at night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

We had a very nice dinner at this hotel wine that was "assorti" with the food was excellent and for 6 € per glass at a reasoable price.

Breakfast in the morning was not spectacular.

Our main problem was that this being an old building, walls are paper thin. So during night you hear toilet being flushed by your neighbour and in the morning it is the shower that awakens you.

The area is an interesting one to potter about in for a couple of nights on a wine buying trip. And we found the hotel delightful. It was comfortable, the decorations in the public areas were an interesting stylish modern on the existing period architecture, the staff were all attentive, friendly and helpful, the manager was in the reception area when we passed through once and was very friendly and solicitous, our room was fine with a lovely outlook and all the meals were just stunning!

We were driving to Austria and decided to cross to France late afternoon and stay for our first night a few miles from the night so as to get a good start.

We had some good reports on the 3 Mousquetaires and made a reservation for room and dinner. The hotel is well located and easy to find. On our arrival the efficient lady at the desk welcomed us and showed us to our room. All very well furnished and presented with excellent bath etc.

Our dinner at the hotel was very good indeed and made some of the more expensive places that we stayed seem poor value. The food was very well cooked and the chosen wines really made our stay. A really nice place offering a good welcome. Ideal for those looking for an overnight stop close to the channel ports but offering more than most.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good. The hotel is in the middle of its own large grounds.

Good, clean rooms, pleasant service, nice setting & a fair price. Only drawback is that it's a little out of the way from the motorway & slightly tricky to get to. Menu is interesting & some of the dishes excellent however somewhat over elaborate for the standard of the cook! Trying to match Mitchelin Star cooking but not (yet!) quite up to it. Presentation is excellent but not all the 'taste combinations' work. If they can learn from these & other comments & continue to improve the food 'tastes' in paticular it could be a very good stop over!

We have visited this hotel over the years and it has maintained its high standards. The cooking is excellent and they are confident enough to have the kitchen on display.

The little park is lovely for a drink before the meal.

We stayed in the newish wing of the hotel which was pretty ordinary.Stay in the main hotel if you can.

Although no wow factor, our room was large and nicely furnished with a beautiful view of the garden and very quiet. The grounds were lovely and peaceful.

We chose the cheaper set menu available (22 euros for 3 courses) and the food was exceptional both in presentation and taste. Service was attentive and freindly without being intrusive.

Negative point. Bathroom had shower over bath but there was no fixture to hold shower head on wall and no shower curtain, so easy to end up soaking bathroom floor.

A nice, well located XIXth century "chateau" that has been enlarged recently, quite succesfuly, with a quiet nice sunny park where you can find beautifull trees and even a nice pond. The owners are charming: she restores the place back to its former "grandeur", transforming it in a stylish trendy cosy place whilst he masters your menu that will please the most demanding clients. Fish are especialy excellent, very well prepared and served with tasty vegetables.

Bedrooms shall be entirely refurbished in the coming months making it an even nicer place: beds are extremely comfortable and nights very quiet; the owner wants to update them.

Few kilometers away from Louvre Lens as well as from the Sea or XVIIIth century Saint Omer and its magnificent cathedral & "marais" (meadows?), this place is a good one to rest and visit the many delights the region offers, starting with the city of Aire sur la Lys itself that is worth few hours walk in its old charming streets.

In any case a place we shall go return to.
