What can I say that hasn't been said already? I've fallen in love with this place and Croatia. I wouldn't say I'm well-travelled but I have been to many Greek islands, France, Mainland Spain and Islands, Portugal, various European Cities but this is def now my top destination. I can't wait to go back and also to try other areas of Croatia. But back to Villas Plat and the lovely, location, the smashing staff, Steven, sorry, can't remember how to spell your name correctly but I can't thank you enough for looking after us, nothing was ever too much trouble. One point I must make, do stay in the Villa's self-catering and use the hotel facilities bars and restaurants but do not stay all inclusive, leave that to the French if that's what they want good luck to them but the food in the hotel Tavern is wonderful and then please go explore we never had a bad meal anywhere. Cavtat is magical, get a hire car explore the lovely countryside, the roads are soooo quiet. I don't need to tell you how beautiful Dubrovnik is surely everyone knows that. Although I am surprised when I talk to people at home they don't seem to have any idea how beautiful Croatia is, I am on a one woman mission to educate everyone, it is the place to go and go whilst they still have Kuna.

Room Tip: Ask for a first or top floor to get the amazing view.

Just returned from a very relaxing 2 week vacation at this hotel. We stayed in the Villa Barbara, double bedroom with balcony facing the sea which gave us a beautiful sunset every night. If you are looking for a holiday with lots of entertainment and party this is not for you however the occasions that they do provide music it is local musicians who are very good and bring a touch of Croatia to the evening. The surroundings to the hotel are lovely and walk down to the beaches (small stones so take beach shoes) and swim in the sea. The pool area is lovely with a fair sized infinity style pool but get their early if you want to get loungers and umbrellas as can get busy.A pool bar provides good food and drinks with friendly staff. A small shop provides some essentials but if you can go to the "Konsume" market down the road or the Lidl. Nearby in Kupari are 4 hotels which are left derelict form the recent conflicts which I found very humbling.A walk up the hill from the hotel takes you past a large hotel which still bears the marks of war.
Regular shuttle bus to Dubrovnik to see this wonderful old city. Take the time to wander the little side streets as well as the main areas. Do the city walls walk and the panoramic views of the old city and surroundings are superb.
Take the boat ride to Cavtat and ask the "captain" for a little mineral water :-). He has been doing this for 35 years and knows all about the area. Cavtat has more life and bars.
We hired a car to visit Mostar in Bosnia and experienced the city that has recovered and rebuilt itself. The famous bridge is magnificent.
We also journeyed into Montenegro and the drive around the coastal area was breath-taking.
Already looking forward to going back to Croatia.

Room Tip: Book a "villa" room as they are larger.

We booked this hotel with very little information about what to expect. We booked the apartment (Villa Diana #28) that sleeps 4 and were pleasantly surprised to find a king bed and a seperate room with bunk beds. There was one bathroom with a tub/shower and another bathroom with a sink and toilet. The apartment had a kitchenette with a small fridge and a cooktop. There was also a very large patio with a table and chairs. But the best part of our stay was the staff - all very helpful and friendly! You should arrange with the hotel for a shuttle from the airport or just take a taxi as its a quick 10 minutes or less ride. The hotel is far enough from Dubrovnik that its really quiet but very accessible. The bus only costs 15 kuna (about $3) and it comes at least once an hour - sometimes every 1/2 hr. For the price you can't go wrong with this hotel. There is a little market on site and a restaurant. We booked a couple of excursions through the hotel and were very happy with both - one to Mostar in Bosnia and a trip to Montenegro. Take the bus to Cavtat (sav tat) a sleepy village south of the hotel. Lots of good restaurants and walks around the two marinas. Plus if you are there in the afternoon you can see the water polo team practice in the marina. Apparently Cavtat and Dubrovnik supply quite a few players for the national water polo team. Stayed here for a week with my partner mid-September. Hotel and area are fairly quiet but perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik, it gets a bit much at times in the city walls! With regular buses to Dubrovnik or Cavtat (15kn) on the road above or get the boat-taxi from round the corner (30kn, I think).

Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival and throughout. Spacious room with hob on the counter, no corkscrew or can opener though so bring your own if needs be. Pool area was stunning, infinity-esque pool with panoramic views. Only tried the breakfast once, it filled a hole but nothing amazing. Mini-market on site or supermarket about 2-3m towards Dubrovnik in Mlini for a larger shop.

Room Tip: Ask for sea-view before heading out, we asked on arrival but all the best ones were taken. Although...

Fantastic service, asked for sea view and got it. Spacious room, only complaint was the damp smell under the sink. Other then that no complaints. Pool area was amazing and pool bar was great. Sea was freezing cold but the salt swimming pool was more then enough to keep us happy.

We have just returned from our holiday in Villas Plat. Our studio was lovely & large & cleaned to a high standard every day. The kitchen area is tiny and not very well eqipped so take can opener, bottle opener, corkscrew etc. We did not have a sea view so would sit at the pool bar to watch the sunsets. The pool area is absolutely delightful although it can get rather busy, the surrounding beaches are lovely with crystal clear water. We ate twice at Kings restaurant on both occasions all our food was first class. If you carry on past Kings up on the main road is a pizza resturant Zupcica. We ate there 4 times and it was excellent value for money. There is nothing in the resort of Plat so best to head into Cavat on the local bus for the restaurants & bars. Bus drivers are really helpful (as were all the Croatians that we spoke to) and will let you know when to get off the bus in Plat so that you do not miss the stop! The hotel offer a mini bus service into Dubrovnik which you have to book although the boat is a lovely way to get there as well. We did all the sites in Dubrovnik, best to do the city walls as late in the day as possible to avoid the crowds as well as the heat. The cable car is a must. At the war museum you will see a photo of the derilict Hotel Ambassardor opposite Kings when it was hit during the war in 1991. We personally were dissapointed with our trip to the Island of Lokrum. We felt that just a couple of hours was enough to see all there was. So, best of both words because pool area perfect for just cillaxing and yet close to see all that Dubrovnik has to offer.
