We would highly recommend this Pension, and Loviste, at the tip of the Pelesjac Peninsula in Croatia, is a beautiful deep bay full of crystal clear water. Our host, Robert, made us very welcome, and we had a delicious dinner just feet from the water's edge. Our room was clean and bright, overlooking the bay. The road there is steep [we should know, we went by bike!] but beautiful, climbing up from near Orebic, where the hourly ferry leaves for the 20 minute trip to Korcula, and then swooping down again towards the village.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Hugging a big, beautiful bay, red-roofed Loviste has quiet bayside break written all over it. Located on the far northern tip of Croatia’s Peljesac Peninsula, there’s an unmistakably out-of-the-way feel here that’s deeply soothing. A little fishing village with only about 250 inhabitants, the rhythm of life here is ultra-restful. Villagers make simple livings from fishing and running the few, good quality konoba sprinkled along the pretty harbourside. Trail slowly along the waterfront and make yourself at home, sipping a refreshing iced coffee or Malvasia wine while you peer out over the empty bay and pine-frosted headlands beyond. When it’s time for the beach, there’s a large sweep of pebbles with gentle waters perfect for the kids. If the pebbles don’t appeal, station yourself on the sunny bathing platforms and landing stages studding the bayside, occasionally plunging into the bracing Adriatic to cool off. ... more less
