“Good value but be warned the town is noisy, free wi-fi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

Santa Elena is a great base for the activities around Monteverde. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in town. The Hotel Oasis is conveniently located on the south triangle base of the main part of town. If you drove there, you can park across the street (5 spaces), or in the two-car berth beside reception if you are lucky.

We paid $30/night for a private room for the two of us (there was a double and single bed in the room), $25 if you're one person wanting a private room. I think it's $15pppn for shared accommodation.

Be warned that staying in town is noisy as cars and motorbikes are loud and angry (if you want to anthropomorphise them!) from the terrible rough unpaved roads in the area. Hotel Oasis' rooms are not well insulated and you will hear everything - particularly worst on the streetside rooms. Be ready with earplugs.

The reception staff are friendly and helpful - a bit of push-selling of activities but they're not bolshy about it and are still nice if you don't book anything. They'll provide you with a map and highlight everything to see/do and if you have your own car, you can go around to them on your own.

The rooms themselves are neat and tidy, a bit worn but of a decent size and the cleaner comes in every day. The bathroom is a little small and a bit worn but otherwise fine. It's nice to have the free wi-fi and it reaches the rooms.
If you can handle the noise and want to stay right in town, then Hotel Oasis is as good a choice as any.

“everything you need to be comfortable, enjoy nature and have fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

This hotel is situated in the center of Monteverde and is a perfect starting point for your trips but also nice to relax as Monteverde and Santa Elena offer a great variety of unbelievably beautiful nature and outdoor leisure. The rooms are clean, offer basic equipment and facilites but everything you need. The price-performance ratio is very good, so you can save up money without abstaining from comfort. I especially enjoyed that you could take really hot showers after all-day long adventure trips, as the temperatures in Monteverde can drop in July. Breakfast was rich, and the pancakes were delicious!
What makes this hotel so extraordinary is the warm-hearted and friendly personal, who gave us a lot ot tips to choose the best excursions and helped us to organize our further voyage. Thanks a lot to Bryan and Ewan. If we go there again, Hotel Oasis will be our choice for sure!!!!

“Friendly and helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

I stayed in Santa Elena for two nights at the Hotel Oasis. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They booked all my adventures. Shuttle service came to the hotel for all the activities I participated in. The room was clean and comfortable. I would stay again!

“Right in Town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

If location in town is your priority this is one to consider. There are not many places to stay right in town. I did not stay here, but noted the hotels in the town for the next trip. I stayed outside town a bit at El Establo (which is beautiful) but I like the idea of being right in town especially to go out for dinner, get groceries, etc.
