Family friendly small hotel about ten minutes walk from centre of town. Owners very helpful about places to visit. Great breakfasts. Good wifi. No pool but weather here always a mix of sun and rain and wind - rather like Scotland!

Heiner, Anna and the rest of their family run a wonderful place. This lodge is well maintained, super clean! great location (try to make it to see the sunset there). the service is the best ever, helping us with all our bookings and so on. they adapt to your breakfast needs. they are always there to give you a coffee or hot tea when coming in from the crazy winds. the massage they arranged for us in the lodge was amazing. they have the best service in the area. located a just a short ride/ walk from the city center, this is a great quiet location (except for the winds, but nothing they can do about this). there is a slight issue with hot water, which they tried to attend to but I found this issue in all lodges/hotels across our trip in Costa Rica. really really recommended. stayed there 3 nigts and was perfect! thank you Heiner!

My wife and I spent three nights here in December and had an excellent time. The rooms we basic but good, the breakfast that was included was excellent. Their local knowledge helped make our stay in Monteverde very memorable.

This is a very late entry (for April 2014) but I had to write a review for this wonderful place.

I stayed here with my 2 girlfriends for 3 nights. It was probably the best accommodation we had during our 9 day trip to Costa Rica. The lodge is family-run and they were all so incredibly friendly and helpful. They were more than willing to call and set up tours on our behalf, print off directions and give us recommendations on places to visit/eat. They really wanted us to experience the real Costa Rica, and would even come to our room to point out exotic animals they noticed in the trees outside the property.

As for the rooms, they were big and immaculately clean. The beds were comfortable, the shower very large, and lots of hot water. Free WIFI. Morning breakfasts were cooked and served in the main dining room and usually consisted of eggs, pancakes, fresh picked fruit and delicious Costa Rican coffee. The lodge is a little out of town but the walk was short and safe. Parking was available at the front of the main building.

Overall, my friends and I 100% recommend this lodge when you're visiting Santa Elena. Thank you, Jose for making our trip memorable!

I really really loved staying here. We found this place on accident and it happened to be the best place in all of C.R we slept at! The gentleman who ran the facility was SO KIND, he provided us with FREE, DELICIOUS breakfast each morning with yummy pancakes and fruit and coffee! The rooms were spacious, we had wi-fi, there was a kitchen in the room, and everything was clean. Such a beautiful place to visit! Had a great time! The owner gave us a discount to because we visited during the slow season. We wanted to stay just one night, we ended up staying two! I totally recommend this place :D The backyard is beautiful and we saw a wild cat! Very quiet and comfy place to stay :)

A hidden charm in Monteverde. The room was large and immaculately clean and lots of hot water. There was a small kitchenette which we did not use. Personal touches abound. Hand carved light fixtures, walls and celing made of laurel and teak. Ample parking and a short walk to town. Excellent WIFI (free). But what sets this property apart from all the others is the service. The owners are hands on and you feel like you are part of the family! The breakfast was excellent and made to order. We had some issues with our booked activities (they lost our reservations) and the owner spent a lot of time on the phone re-booking them for us. They are very proud of their property and service and it SHOWS! We would go back to Monteverde just to stay here again.

Sweet people, very clean rooms, and SO helpful! Made our first visit fantastic. A little outside of the main town-but we walked the back roads every night to eat. Safe little walk and you get to see even more of the town. They arranged a canopy tour for us, a coffee tour, transportation and suggested we check out Playa Samara next which ended up to be an amazing part of our trip. Breakfast was included and was huge along with being so tasty. Delicious coffee and the lemonade upon arrival was a sweet touch. We highly recommend this lodge! it was quiet and clean. Can't wait to visit again!
