“You MUST go here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Camino Verde is the best. After booking for four nights, we ended up staying a whole week, and then after an escapade to Panama, we made a point of coming back for our last week.

Let me repeat that... we crossed all of Costa Rica, to go back to Monteverde, just so we could stay there again.

We loved Jose and Andres, the manager and owner, and the general atmosphere of the place. It's calm and cozy, and everyone is really really friendly. You MUST go hear.

Also, the breakfast is absolutely delicious, it's unreal!

GO HERE.

What a cute and cozy B&B! The common area is nice, with free wifi and phone calls to the US. The new front entrance and "bottle wall" adds an eclectic touch. We enjoyed the free breakfast that included 4 choices. The location was perfect to walk to town or to get picked up for our excursions. Our room was small but comfortable, and it had its own bathroom. Getting hot water in the shower was tricky, but not a concern. We didn't spend much time in our room to need anything more. Andres and Jose helped us with everything from planning our excursions, suggesting places to eat, planning our transportation, and answering questions in general. They were wonderful hosts, kind and helpful. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you Andres and Jose for making our stay so wonderful!

Room Tip: We stayed in the back, in room #18 (I think). It had two beds and its own bath. There was an enclose...

Andres made our stay in Monteverde easy and fun! He helped us book all of our tours right at the front desk. He gave us a super helpful map that he had made of all the tours, their prices, and times. It was amazingly helpful. He was readily available pretty much day and night for any questions we had. Our room (#18) was clean and had its own bathroom amd TV. There are a few common areas to hang out in which was nice. There is a fridge that we kept beer and cheese from the local factory in during our stay. Breakfast was hearty and freshly made. We had the eggs and pancakes most mornings. Free wifi too although it didn't work in our room. Overall, highly recommended and would stay here again! A great B&B for a really good price!

Stayed in this hostel for three nights in April. It is about 10 minutes from the center of a very small town (Santa Elana) in a residential area. Jose makes you feel right at home and will arrange anything you need (tours, transportation). He is a great go-to guy with questions. There are a few large common areas, one next to the kitchen and one with a great view of the surrounding mountains. Breakfast is included and we have four choices. Can also buy food and use the fridge and cooking area. Cold drinks and coffee/tea available all day. Computers available for guests. The private room I had was large and had a full ensuite bathroom. As in many small communities, dogs may be allowed to protect territory (usually the chickens) at night so bring earplugs. I heard a couple of dogs at night but nothing earplugs didn't take care of. This is a great hostel with really good help from the manager, Jose. And, for all the services, you can't beat the cost. Really nice place to stay.

Myself and a party of 6 stayed in Monteverde for 3 nights and we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The staff particularly, Jose the manager were so helpful and friendly. On our arrival he sat us down and arranged any activity we wanted from zipwiring to horseriding to taxi's to restaurant recommendations and our departing bus trip. Any hassle we had was quickly sorted out. I suspected he had business links with everybody in the town which worked out to our advantage. Breakfast comes included and gave 3 options to choose from. Coffee and tea was free all day long. There were iPads and free wifi everywhere in the hostel. The rooms were comfy but nothing above the ordinary. The hot water ran out occasionally but it didn't bother us too much. This hostel added a special something to my stay in Costa Rica. If every hostel manager provided the same facilities this did it would go along way. Comes highly recommended and was excellent value.

Camino Verde was a fantastic bed and breakfast located in Monteverde! Not only was it affordable, clean, and comfortable, but the service was also great. Jose made us feel very welcome and a complimentary, freshly made breakfast was offered each morning. The location is within walking distance to town, where there are some cute souvenir shops, sodas, and a grocery store. Definitely would recommend staying here!

Room Tip: Two bed, private room is fantastic for $15 a bed! Definitely worth it!

Everyone at Camino Verde B&B were helpful, friendly and treat you like family. Jose recommended and booked a night tour and zip line tour that were both exceptional and fun. Jose was available to meet any of your needs and has many recommendations for this to see, do or eat in Monteverde. Monteverde is a safe town and I felt very comfortable walking through town at night. The people of Monteverde are very friendly and I met other guests from all over the world at Camino Verde. Camino Verde is within walking distance to everything in town. I highly recommend staying at Camino Verde.
