“Nice spot, lovely service, and overall great experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

This was a great experience for my fiance and my first visit to Costa Rica. It is located on a very quiet and remote location between the small town of Paritta and the fishing village of Quepos. It is on an unpaved road (about 6KM) off highway 34. You are best to have a car.

We were greeted at the reception by Peter, who was wonderfully hospitable through our entire visit. Our rooms were large and very clean, with filtered drinking water and air conditioning. I was told the furniture, dining tables, etc. were built on site by local staff. The beach is literally steps away, and most often, we were the only ones on it! Very private indeed!

The pool looked nice to me but we didn't use it.

Breakfast was included everyday of our stay and was a nice experience. They served some local foods along with fresh fruit and fruit juices each day.

The owner and his son were both exceptionally pleasant.

I think if you want to have a time away to relax and a nice, clean hotel to stay at, I would highly recommend Cocomar.

if you are looking for a wide and miles and miles of clean beach for yourself, you need to book a room in this hotel. Also, the rooms are clean, large and very cozy. I like to party like everyone else, but sometimes you need some time for yourself. This place has one of the coolest beaches I've seen, and I've been in a lot of them. If you are looking for peace, great sun and lot fun times surfing for hours.. here a beach for you. Also, the hotel is very nice. Clean, good people, they speak english, spanish and german well.

Room Tip: get the suite, it's like having your private house at the beach. also, you have your own fully s...

This is a very well priced hotel with extremely friendly staff. The food they cook onsite is excellent, although the price is a bit high for CR. The only downside is that it is in a location with nothing around, down a fairly bumpy dirt road (about 4 miles or so). If you have a car its great, but if not, you'll be there until you leave. But, that's not such a bad thing. Down the street is a snooty French restauant - we weren't able to get reservations but heard its good. Also further down is a local CR place that is cheap and good food. You can also head into Parrita, just a few minutes away down a dirt road - lots of good CR places with cheap seafood.

Great spot...vet quiet and secluded. Staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make you feel at home. Pool and beach are nice. Great trip and very relaxing place to stay. I would definitely go back.

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. There is a short drive from Parrita to Manuel Antonio, but you are far removed from the crime and chaos of Quepos. It is quite warm and humid--swimming in the pool was wonderful, even at night. The setting is peaceful, friendly, and beautiful. The beach is close and peaceful and the motel room was perfect. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was beautiful. Peter is a wonderful cook, friendly host, and always available. Wonderful, personal service!

Said it all in the title.
But for more, read Karina's review from 5/Feb.
Special thanks to Peter for making our stay just so perfect.
And thank you, Karina for sharing your special and noisy smoothies.

We'll definitely return.

If you are looking for something off the beaten track yet close enough for easy day trips, this is the best possible choice. We had a junior suite which was great, spacious and provided everything we needed. Peter was outstanding and did everything he could do make our stay the best possible including picking fresh limes off the tree for our drinks. His wife prepared wonderful breakfasts and we even had a few wonderfully prepared fish dinners (the fish was caught that morning by the landscaper).

Every morning we walked along the beach and were the ONLY ones there. In the afternoon we we played in the waves or sat by the pool and in the evening we relaxed with our cocktails in the thatched cabana and watched the sunset which was unbelievable each time seeing 2-3 people. It was OUR beach.

Two suggestions: stay during the week. The owner shows up on weekends and tends to want to talk to you a little too much about the great attributes of the resort while eating your dinner and call/email directly...reservations got screwed up but Peter made it good without batting an eye.

Overall, we were sad to leave and looking back, wished we had spent a few more night here. I can't say enough good things about Peter, his family and his staff. The owner should give him a raise.....

Room Tip: Go for the Jr. Suite....
