“Loved the swinging bridges”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I are in our 60's and enjoyed this park. There are a lot of steps going up but they provide walking sticks (useful especially going down). The swinging bridges were really swinging bridges...take you time, enjoy the view, but some were a little scary. Beautiful waterfalls and pools of water. We didn't swim but we saw others who did. Only $15 per person (without a guide).

“Nice walk and no rain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

A 2 or so mile long walk up and down hillsides and across canopy walkways that sway and thrill. Not for the faint-at-heart but no skills required. The park is nicely maintained and the staff of one was pretty laid back. We went in March which may not be a rainy period but had there been rain, there would have been some pretty nice water falls and streams -- and a few slippery places too.

“Memorable day at Rainmaker Park, Parrita”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

This was a wonderful, beautiful walk up, up, up through the canopy - they give you walking sticks as well (which believe me, I'm glad I took one - they really help propel you upwards when walking); lots of hanging bridges of varying sizes that allow you to look straight down into the canopy and above beautiful little waterfalls. The higher you go, the more awesome and greener it gets - there is a cool waterfall/swimming pool at the top that you can swim in (it sucks you in towards the fall on the right side and pushes you out again on the left side - very fun!)
Saw some amphibians (poison dart frogs, eyelash pit viper; lizards; centipedes and other frogs and a beautiful blue dragonfly) If you get there real early you may see some toucans or toucanettes - I think we just missed 'em.
We took the bus from Parrita and arranged for the guide to pick us up from the road (we did the walk on our own though) - if you don't have a car you'll need to do this as it would be too long of a walk to the entrance from the main road; you should probably call in advance to make a reservation for the park anyway.
Park was not crowded at all but for one tour group that came through that we saw at the waterfall pool - we ate lunch here too - food was good and a good deal!
All in all it was a wonderful, memorable day in this very beautiful part of Costa Rica.

“Hanging bridges, waterfall hike and delicious food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013 via mobile

Awesome place. It is a piece of paradise off the beaten path. Takes about 2 hours if you take your time and swim in the waterfall. Saw butterflies, lizards, poisinous snakes, and a family of toucans along the hike. Worth the price for lunch included... $20 self guided hike with authentic tico lunch! Which was delicious! This is what costa rica is about! Hopefully they can preserve the beauty and minimize the impact on the environment from tourism. Thank you for the experience!

“Great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This is an awesome place to hike through the rainforest and experience waterfalls! Saw toucans in the canopy as well as 2 vipers that had been clearly marked on the trees by the diligent guides. The plants are awesome and the hike is great. I love the suspension bridges and the whole history behind them. Wonderful experience
