“Blown away!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

I found this restaurant on Tripadvisor and went there because I liked the look of the photos. It is a pain in the &*% to find but totally worth the hunt and being away from the main strip of restaurants is part of it's charm.

What I didn't expect was one of the best meals I have ever had. After 6 weeks in Sri Lanka, I have got used to most western food being acceptable immitations but this was really high quality food that would easily hold it's own in Florida where I live

When I read the menu I was pretty dubious as to where they would even find half the ingrediants mentioned but when my pizza arrived it looked gorgeous, it even had decent pesto. I Had the Vegetarian pizza and my friend ordered grilled Tuna, Both were perfect.

We sat downstairs and after we finished we explored around and found out that the kitchen is open plan upstairs where you can watch the chef work. My chef was a super smily Sri Lankan guy who showed me the insane wood fire where they cook everything. He doesn't seem to speak much English though as it would have been nice to find out more about the ingrediants. If we had known we would have totally sat up there, it has a great view over the whole bay.

Seriously if you are in the area check this place out but don't bother hunting, just get in a tuk tuk and ask for Sun n Sea it is only 5 mins from the main strip.

“Best pizza in Sri Lanka with a 5 star view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

This is a fabulous restaurant located at the opposite end of Unawatuna Beach to the other popular spots. It's most definitely worth the short hike (or tuk tuk ride) and offers excellent food, a great view and friendly prompt service. We will definitely be going back for the wood pizzas. The views are especially good on the second floor.

“Wonderful views and fresh locally sourced food: the best place to eat in Unawatuna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

After one week in Unawatuna, choosing to dine at Sun N Sea was easily the best food decision we made.
All the food is fresh, sumptuous, well priced and locally sourced. Very nice ambiance and the staff were all very smiley, friendly and helpful.
We had a delicious dinner, perched just above the waves overlooking the bay. It had the perfect vibe and made for the perfect evening in Unawatuna. After being in Sri Lanka for two months, this has easily been my favourite dinner and food I've had so far.

“What a find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

I stopped by the sun n sea a few nights ago to try the new wood fire restaurant out and wasn't disappointed
Firstly the location is away from the hustle and bustle of Unawatuna beach. This means you have to walk right to end of the sand to find it, but when you get there there are sweeping views across the bay so it's a really lovely place to sit and watch the sun go down.
The pizzas are fantastic a are obviously made from really fresh local ingredients. Everything seems to be made by hand in the open kitchen... you can speak with the chefs as they make your food and if its quiet they even let you get involved in topping your pizza which is fun for the kids, and the some of the grown ups too!
All in all it was a really excellent meal and I'll be coming back to hangout in their new coffee lounge soon - free wifi and real expresso!
