As frequent travelers, we must say this hotel is one of a kind, that made our stay a real vacation. It's located in a perfectly quiet and beautiful place in the southern part of Sri Lanka where you have the loveliest view of the Indian Ocean. It's really a beautiful high end hotel which catered us with luxurious comforts. The service of the staff and the food quality was amazing. The hotel is equipped with a very nice Pool, a modern Gym and a western spa. I would recommend this hotel to any traveler who wish to have a peaceful and comfortable vacation in a home away from home. We wish to go back to Thaproban Pavilion on our next trip to Sri Lanka.

Room Tip: Ocean Pavilion is the best

We had a fantastic time at this hotel - it's very new, comfortable rooms and lovely pool area overlooking the oceans magnificent waves crashing onto the rocks. It's literally just a few mins walk from the main beach /restaurant/bar area which is actually nice to escape and if walking is a hassle a tuk tuk is always on hand.

The staff at Thaproban Pavilion are truly wonderful - every single one gives 110% to make you feel welcome in a genuinely friendly manner - none of those fake hotel employee smiles!! Nothing seems too much trouble and being small - they are able to respond to questions and requests promptly

Our only comment would be that as it is so new there are a few teething issues but we could see these being addresses even during our 6 night stay. For example some comments had been made about weak signals so extra wifi aerials were being installed - such is the desire to please guests and importantly it would appear that as they are new, they are listening to feedback .

If you want a great hotel with fabulous staff then look no further

We got a good deal through agoda and stayed the pool. What a stroke of luck it turned out to be...we were the only folks staying in the hotel and the view from the is incredible...right near the pool facing the beach. The rooms are very spacious , the amenities excellent and the balcony with seating is a joy. The place is beach facing but its not necessarily a sandy beach where you can dip in...it's more akin to a rocky cliff beach where you can sit and enjoy the huge waves and the water sprinkling which is lovely.

The staff is ver friendly, they made special vegetarian breakfast for us and the service is of high standard. It's close by to the major eating joints and the primary beach (15 minutes walk)The place is a little pricey but then it's advertised as a luxury place so no complains. I would surely recommend for luxury/couple/family stay

No beach here since it's at the point and the surf is quite strong. The restaurant is excellent, staff was attentive and it's in a quiet location. On weekends a nearby nightclub plays very loud music till late, so best to get a room closer to the road if you want to sleep.

Dear Guest,

I am delighted that you were well looked after and you were happy with the hotel overall. We are newly opened 6 months ago and we have had some rough sea for three months from May however now the season has changed and the sea in front of the hotel is not rough as it was , our main point is that we are located in the heart of Unawatuna yet located in a quiet area away form the hustle and bustle.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and I do hope that you will consider staying with us when you next visit Unawatuna.

Warm regards,
Mangala Denagama

Nice, quiet, great food, lovely staff, awesome pool sat on the back of the rocks facing the ocean, close to Unawatuna's little bars and cafes. What more could I ask? We really enjoyes our stay at the Thaproban. Although it might be slightly overpriced with respect to the other hotels in Unawatuna, we really felt cuddled. The room is to the highest standards, sleep quality is excellent and we had a sea view. Breakfast is amazing and served quickly.
We also tried the massage which was reasonably priced and performed by professionals - felt so relaxed after that.
Should I be back to Unawatuna I would definitely stay there again.

A brand new hotel, set back from the main beach of Unawatuna and not without teething problems (leaking roofs, very slow service at meal times and quality of food inconsistent) but what a stunning property in a superb location, with staff who are trying very very hard to make it the number 1 hotel in Una. We stayed in a double storey villa with another couple for unbelievable value for money - however, as we were flying late at night we had to be checked out by 3pm so were kindly offered Room 103 for around $30 for the remainder of the day until we left at 10pm. And what a location for a room. Right by the pool, right next to the beach. This property may not hark back to the travelling days of Unawatuna's aesthetic but it's a great place for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Leave extra time for breakfast/lunch/dinner as there may just be one chef down in the kitchen prepar...
