“Delicious food and a real pleasure to speak with the lovely chef”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

Me and my boyfriend stayed in unawatuna in January and ate here a few times. What was so lovely was that everything was home made from the delicious curries and chutneys to the homemade bread and peanut butter and delicious passion fruit jam at breakfast. Really good value and the chef 'jina' was a really kind lovely man. He gave us some lovely advocado soup for free- just to try.. And also made me up a herbal drink when I came for breakfast one morning after I had a bad tummy from the previous nights Italian. Would definitely go back again if I was in unawatuna again :-)

“Good food cooked freshly with plenty of choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

Good food, reasonably priced and freshly cooked. Waiting times can stretch sometimes if they get busy but the food is very good and the menu is totally vegetarian. Seating is either on the veranda or in thgarden, if sitting in the garden take mosquito precautions.

“Lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

We ate here during our stay in unawatuna. We walked by and the setting was really cossy, tabels in a garden and candles and little fires. The timing of serving the the food was perfect. We didnt have to wait long and we were also not in and out in 20 minutes (happens sometimes at other places..). I had the peacock pie and my friend the day special, as a starter the hummus with homemade brown bread, we loved it. The dessert was fine but not very special. The date cake was a bit better then the chocolat cake. But the cakes were much better then others we tried in sri lanka. And we liked the friendly staff!

“Far from the best vegetarian food in Unawatna.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Ate here last year but haven't gone back on this stay. The food is ok but as a vegetarian I find there are umpteen better places to get vegetarian food in Unwatuna. Particularly if you love curries and are not craving western fare. The same is true of the South Ceylon vegetarian cafe which I have used off and on since 1992when it was owned by a retired seaman with a taste for Mexican food.
