“Great tour for teens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

We travelled approx 30 mins from Queenstown to visit here. We had a great time on this hour tour. The guide was very knowledgable and explained a lot about the history of gold mining. The machinery was brought in from an old mine but was in working order and showed you how the gold was dredged. The Chinese village was recreated but also gave you a good idea of how it was. The gold panning was authentic and no gold was planted as at other goldpanning attractions. They could do this as there is a claim up river where they bring in the river soil. Two out of about 15 people got a gold fleck in their pans . One man got quite a big piece( worth about $60). Very well run and such a beautiful setting, got loads of great photos .

“Take your time, soak in the atmosphere, and maybe get rich”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

There is a lot to see and do here - from gold panning, to learning about the brave souls who joined the gold rush (and their techniques) to walking around the huts showing the harsh conditions they lived and worked in. Really good for young and old. Some of the paths are a bit tricky for the unfit and unsteady, and watch the kids near the water and the old workings.

“Memorable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

We two couples had a most enjoyable lunch at Wild Earth.the setting is just beautiful set amongst mature poplar and blue gum trees with a vista across the Kawaru River makes this a relaxing area to dine.We treated ourselves to the platter with matching wines which was a treat great presentation for a me right reasonseal served on a wine barrel rib.Our waiter gave full explication of how the dishes and wine blended together and gave us great service. All in all highly enjoyable ,we tick it up as memorable for all the right reasons. Many tThanks.
