I've visited this restaurant previously for coffee and had been satisfied. Because of this experience I visited the restaurant with extended family for dinner over Easter weekend 2013. I was very disappointed for a variety of reasons.
Firstly, we originally endeavoured to book for 8.00pm but were informed that we would have to come by 6.30 (due to other bookings), and understood that we needed to be out of the restaurant by 8.00pm. Despite this, our meals were not served until after 8.00pm and then only after I complained about the length of time we were having to wait.
Secondly, members of my party were dissatisfied with their meals. Most appeared to have been sitting for some time before being served (e.g. not hot and wilted/soggy). Given the prices that we did pay, we also expected our meals to be of a higher quality, rather than than the type of fare we can prepare at home.
When expressing my dissatisfaction, I was advised by the staff that they had been very busy that night and had managed to get more meals out than usual. The impression I strongly gained was that the restaurant's issues in dealing with the large number of customers booked, should be bourne by the customers not the staff or management.
After leaving the restaurant, we were approached by restaurant staff and offered an apology and voucher to the value of 15% of our combined meals cost. While the apology and voucher were appreciated, I still gained the impression that the fault was ours (we were told that we should have said we wanted service within a specific time) and that I should not expect any different service or food quality in the future. I would not recommend this restaurant based upon this experience.
