“Very disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

I've visited this restaurant previously for coffee and had been satisfied. Because of this experience I visited the restaurant with extended family for dinner over Easter weekend 2013. I was very disappointed for a variety of reasons.

Firstly, we originally endeavoured to book for 8.00pm but were informed that we would have to come by 6.30 (due to other bookings), and understood that we needed to be out of the restaurant by 8.00pm. Despite this, our meals were not served until after 8.00pm and then only after I complained about the length of time we were having to wait.

Secondly, members of my party were dissatisfied with their meals. Most appeared to have been sitting for some time before being served (e.g. not hot and wilted/soggy). Given the prices that we did pay, we also expected our meals to be of a higher quality, rather than than the type of fare we can prepare at home.

When expressing my dissatisfaction, I was advised by the staff that they had been very busy that night and had managed to get more meals out than usual. The impression I strongly gained was that the restaurant's issues in dealing with the large number of customers booked, should be bourne by the customers not the staff or management.

After leaving the restaurant, we were approached by restaurant staff and offered an apology and voucher to the value of 15% of our combined meals cost. While the apology and voucher were appreciated, I still gained the impression that the fault was ours (we were told that we should have said we wanted service within a specific time) and that I should not expect any different service or food quality in the future. I would not recommend this restaurant based upon this experience.

“Keep it simple and do it well”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

We recently stayed at the lodge apartments and had two evening meals at the Moorings on site.
The menu was fine just enough choice without being overwhelming.
Our group choice Salmon, Chicken, and the beef. All beautifully presented and cooked well. The beef especially good, very tender at M-Rare. Ok prices and good value for the amount on the plate.
The staff very helpful and friendly. A good place to eat on site, and a nice meander back to your room. Pays to book at the weekends.
Well done The Moorings

“Sack the chef!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

We had been to the Moorrings several times for lunch when they first opened and decided to bring the family for dinner. Staff were ho hum and were wrongly charged for 1 drink which we discovered after we returned home.
Garlic prawn entree - well you needed a microscope to see the 6 prawns - or were they shrimps? - overcooked and overpriced! The lamb cutlets were NOT lamb -tender but absolutely tasteless and overcooked. Steak was awesome, salmon overcooked.
C'mon guys, if you are going to charge city prices for your food come up with the goods! We eat at alot of great restaurants, but unfortunately you didn't fit the bill this time, sorry :(

“Fantastic Addition To The Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Located 8 km north of Cromwell this Restaurant fills a need for the growing population at Pisa Moorings, Lowburn Valley and Pisa Flats. The food is fine, service good and prices reasonable. There is even a courtesy coach for those wanting to visit from Cromwell and who do not want to worry about drinking and driving.

“Moorings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Considering all the great choices in and around Cromwell indoors was too noisy and too few different choices on menu. However the setting was fantastic and loved the outdoor fire
