“a warm welcome and superb wines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We stopped in to Quartz reef after being given a recommendation from one of the other vineyards in the area. Very glad we did make the effort to go. The staff were just delightful and it was great to see some much attention to detail with the wine making, in particular the method champenoise or traditional method being used in their warehouse. Well worth a visit and make sure you try their sparkling wines, they really are first class !

“Great Wines!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Beautiful wines from a passionate wine producer. There is lots of love behind the making of these wines. Not the traditional cellar door - make sure you park the car and enter. Triple welcome and some fantastic wines to taste. These guys know how to make wines in a very environmentally friendly way. Pick up some of their sparkling wines - they are good! And its quite amazing given wine is produced on the edge here due to the location this far south. Great staff who are keen to share the Quartz Reef story and how the wines have been made.

Absolutely love Quartz Reef! Wines are amazing, so are the staff and what a cool cellar door! Not over the top in anyway but has everything you could ask for. Best bubbles around and everything else is amazing too! Good on you guys- keep up the good work!

“Now this is more like it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2012

The winery is located in an unassuming building in an industrial estate in Cromwell. But don't be put off! The wines were all most interesting, and some were truly excellent.

We had made an appointment with Simon Beck, the sales and marketing manager, and he talked us through the full range of their wines, of which we tasted most. Nothing was too much trouble for him and we made a further appontment for the following Monday, when a wine loving friend was going to be there.

Once again, Simon took the trouble to explain all the wines, and go through an even fuller range this time.

We rated this winery very highly indeed. The fact that Rudi Bauer is Austrian in origin shows in the restrained elegance of his wines. Their vintage traditional method sparkling wine was quite as good a sparkler as I've had for a long time. WAY better than most supermarket champagnes, in my view. It was one of only two I was able to buy to fly away with.
