This is a lovely old mansion on the outskirts of Newtonmore, and has been stylishly modernised into a 4* guest house. Our room (The Larches) was king size and immaculate. When we arrived home made biscuits were waiting on the hospitality tray.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet, relaxing and peaceful. We would recommend their packed lunches. The owners provide a list of restaurants etc in the locality which is useful.

It's about 5 minutes walk to the centre of Newtonmore, set back off the Fort William road so there was no traffic noise.

We paid £70 a night for a king size room B&B, and smaller ones are £50 so it's reasonably priced. There are 6 rooms.

The cast of 'Monarch of the Glen' used it as their base during filming for 2 years.

Having stayed at some very disappointing places in rural Scotland, we were delighted to find somewhere so comfortable.

This B&B is first-class from the moment you pull into the driveway. The hosts are warm, considerate and hospitable. The house is cozy, inviting and tastefully decorated. The rooms are large and have magnificent views. Breakfast was a real treat as well. If you're staying in the Highlands make sure you check this place out. We stayed for one night and we've already booked two more separate trips there this summer--it's that great of a place.

“Fantastic B&B”

We highly recommend this B&B, which is by far the best we have ever been in and was good value for money. The hosts were very warm and friendly. The bedroom, in which we stayed, was of a very high standard (bath and shower in the bathroom, CD and DVD players with DVDs and CDs). The whole house was very cosy and tastefully decorated. We also succombed because of the delicious home made cookies awaiting us in the room!!
