Very minimal hotel. Accommodated several tour groups at once. Would not consider going there unless though a tour. Given location, not sure there were much better hotels - especially given cost. Dinner at hotel was ok, but nothing to write home about. Nothing to do in town (what there was of it).

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at the Highlander Hotel. I was very concerned and dismayed to read your thoughts, especially given the number of positive comments received about the hotel. In relation to the local area, there are certainly things to do as can be seen from the review on 22nd May. We pride ourselves greatly on the warmth and hospitality we offer our guests here at the Highlander Hotel and I am sorry you did not enjoy your tour as one would have liked.

Stayed 2 nights, very helpful and courteous staff, comfortable room, food perfectly acceptable. We booked thru easy-breaks and got a very good rate.

Great location, don't miss the FREE Highland museum across the road. Elisabeth on the desk recommended it ,said we would need 2or 3 hours to cover it.
not being big on that sort of thing,we were sceptical, but it was really excellent (and took us about 3 hours)
We also followed a signed walk, the Wild Cat trail, which is very scenic and not too strenuous, mostly level with 1 or 2 small hills.
I thought I saw a wildcat, but it turned out to be a large hare!!

Stayed 6 nights at this hotel as part of a ski package. Was not sure what to expect given other reviews, but had a great time. The accommodation could do with an upgrade but was still very comfortable. The friendliness and helpfulness of all of the staff was greatly appreciated and the food was excellent. My family and I can't wait to return.

Pass this hotel everyweek so popped in and got a great price for a night away with my wife. the food was excellent and we were lucky enough to be there when it was full so we had free highland entertainment with haggis etc. Breakfast was superb and the rooms were decent. Would go back again.
ps - this area is not for lively people.

Stayed three nights but one night was really enough. Staff pleasant and tried hard to make us feel welcome but this 'hotel' is really a 'motel', largely catering for large coach parties staying one night only and is seriously in need of an upgrade. The bathroom (could have been cleaner ) was very generous in size but contained no bath, merely a small shower cubicle. The bedroom was also generously sized but suffered from very 'tired' decour .Did not have dinner but found an excellent local pub (Glenloch) in Newtonmore which had an wide menu choice and offered home cooked food at reasonable prices. The cooked Breakfast was disappointing - offered no real choice (take it or leave it !).
On the positive side, the Highlander is conveniently located for touring this area, is quiet ( quote 'the bar will be open until 11.00pm at the discretion of the Bar Manager'), and the staff pleasant.
Overall, a disappointing experience for what we paid - curiously Oxford Inns, the owners did not request guest feedback, nor did they particupate in the local Tourist Board grading scheme - to call the Highlander a 'hotel' is misleading customers as it does not offer the range of facilities normally expected for customers paying the full room rate.
