Stayed three nights but one night was really enough. Staff pleasant and tried hard to make us feel welcome but this 'hotel' is really a 'motel', largely catering for large coach parties staying one night only and is seriously in need of an upgrade. The bathroom (could have been cleaner ) was very generous in size but contained no bath, merely a small shower cubicle. The bedroom was also generously sized but suffered from very 'tired' decour .Did not have dinner but found an excellent local pub (Glenloch) in Newtonmore which had an wide menu choice and offered home cooked food at reasonable prices. The cooked Breakfast was disappointing - offered no real choice (take it or leave it !).
On the positive side, the Highlander is conveniently located for touring this area, is quiet ( quote 'the bar will be open until 11.00pm at the discretion of the Bar Manager'), and the staff pleasant.
Overall, a disappointing experience for what we paid - curiously Oxford Inns, the owners did not request guest feedback, nor did they particupate in the local Tourist Board grading scheme - to call the Highlander a 'hotel' is misleading customers as it does not offer the range of facilities normally expected for customers paying the full room rate.
