5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

the rooms are very nice, the couple that are the host are great!!! Will talk to you all night about everything. They care so much about their guest. Breakfast was very good each morning! Loved the large eating table and create conversation between everyone sitting at the table.

We were making the long trip from the Midlands to Skye and broke the journey here. My brother in law had stayed there before and sang its praises so we decided to meet up there, before continuing our journey together. We could not have asked for a warmer welcome or more spacious accommodation--the shower room alone was bigger than many hotel rooms I have stayed in.
They don't serve evening meals but are more than willing to recommend good local establishments, and provide for a reasonable charge a taxi service. We had eaten prior to arrival but something to remember next time.
The room was not only large but well stocked with everything you could possibly need and they do have a licence -the local whiskey is stunning.
After what seemed a very short night , Breakfast was a stunning even,t I recommend the porridge laced with whiskey for starters, with all sitting at one table leading to interesting conversations.
All too soon it was time to say our farewells and continue on our journey but we will return --that's a promise.
It is dog friendly in all areas except during breakfast when you are asked to leave dogs in the car---something ours enjoys anyway.
Open all year I think-booking would seem to be a good idea so not to be disappointed.

Room Tip: All four rooms are excellent. We had the disabled one with its own door -ideal to take dog out for i...

Had a lovey weekend break at the Crubenbeg house with John and Irene. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Every area of the B&B was spotless and well kept. We stayed in the Osprey room, it was a nice size, very bright with lovely views over the hills. The bathroom was large and very clean, with lovely towels and toiletries. We enjoyed a cuppa and a cake in the guests lounge with John, who made it a point to take an interest in our trip and our family. We had dinner at the B&B on the Friday evening, Irene was very accommodating when we explained we did not like fish which was the main meal for the evening, providing us with a very very tasty chicken dish. All residents sit round the main dinner table which some people may find off putting, however we found it lovely to socialise with other guests. Nothing was too much trouble for John or Irene, and their knowledge of the area is second to none. The Breakfast is amazing, I have never seen such an extensive menu!!! Would definitely recommend this B&B to others and we will definitely be back. I would point out that it is very dog friendly accommodation, which is fine if you don't mind dogs, however if you don't, you may wish to discuss this with Irene and John before you stay!

LA, you're a darling, writing those kind words about your stay with us - thanks so much. We're delighted that you enjoyed it and thanks, too, for your words of advice to any folk thinking of staying with us who are not, perhaps, so comfortable as you are at having a dog or two around.

Only stayed for the 1 night as we were meeting family elsewhere on the way back from a longer trip around Scotland.
The different format I refer to is the "all guests eat round the 1 large table rather than individual smaller tables" and to be honest John and Irene get it work very well as it generates friendly and informative cross table chat rather than the quiet whispering chit chat that small individual tables can create.
John is a very friendly likeable front of house person who makes sure all the guests are made to feel very welcome.
Irene "sorts out" the food and by that I mean its my Yorkshire way of saying she does a seriously good job of putting some cracking food on the table.
We had our young cocker spaniel with us (The Bobster) and to any dog owners reading this I can confirm that our 4 legged friends are made to feel VERY welcome here and the walks straight out of the front door are excellent too.
Too often dog owners and their dogs get "put up with" but not here as its a absolutely genuine dog lovers place to stay.

G, you are too kind, thank you. It was great to get to look after Bobster and, of course, the two of you as well!! You know our motto - "Dogs we welcome, their well-behaved owners too!!"

We recently stayed with Irene and John and had a wonderful time. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had our two cocker spaniels with us,who were as welcome as we were, and we all felt thoroughly spoiled. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and the breakfasts were superb! John kept us entertained with his many puns (which all seemed home-groan - haha) and Irene is a cooking legend! Thanks to you both - we cannot recommend you highly enough. When we departed it felt like leaving home.

Greetings dear Dragonski and thanks very much for taking the time to pen such kind words on our behalf. Rest assured, we very much enjoy looking after the 4 of you and the dog-sitting was an absolute pleasure.

No apologies about the ouns, though - some of them were nearly (but not quite) as bad as yours!!

Diolch.

We stayed for two nights and the welcome we got from John and Irene was brilliant. They run a lovely b and b, the rooms and facilities are excellent. And the breakfasts are absolutely amazing, the best start for a day of exploring the Highlands. Will certainly be back!

Dear John and Irene: your kindness, your generosity, your enthusiasm . . . the lovely room (Stag), and the delicious breakfasts . . . and the excitement of being home to Scotland once more, made this the best adventure ever! Thank you! And thank you for the special touches: the loaner of the Wellies and thick, warm, tall socks on our drizzly day to Culloden, the brown Highland purse, the laundry-do, and hot cups of coffee here and there, much like being looked after with love! And the above and beyond, I must mention as well: I am honored that you received and tended for me my new Macpherson Hunting Tartan skirt and sash, sent through the post to you from Geoffrey Tailors of Edinburgh, well in advance of our Clan Macpherson Gathering!!! You had it hanging in my room, a welcome sight, ready for me to wear! I have already booked the room for next year's Gathering, staying 7 nights, two more than this trip! Someone asked me last night what I liked the most about Scotland: it's the people! It's your warmth and welcoming smile! It's the way you care about your guests before, during, and after our stay! So, thanks! With love, Dee McPherson

Room Tip: Choose the Stag Room....Four poster bed, ensuite bathroom, sitting area with love seat and small tab...
