“Friendly informative and enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

Whether like me you have Highland ancestors or you just fancy a trip back in time, this museum is great. They have recreated the Highland way of life going back from the War to the 1700's. It is very interactive with plenty of things to try out as well as look at and lots of very well informed costumed staff on hand to answer questions or just help bring it to life. There are red squirrels in the trees to spot and places to enjoy a picnic if it's sunny or shelter if its wet. A perfectly pleasant way to pass a couple of hours and learn something too.

“Perfect place for a family hangout”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

We hugely enjoyed this Museum, not only it is free, its full of things to see from 1700 village to 1930s school with a teacher. Everyone had a wealth of information to share.
Very interactive and a perfect day out.

“Seriously worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013 via mobile

After driving past several times per visit to the area over several years we finally took the time to check out the Highland Folk Museum and boy were we missing something special. What an amazing place. If you've a genuine interest in all things Scottish or even just nostalgic mid 20th Century history then this is the place for you. Every member of staff we spoke to were seriously welcoming and informative without being pushy or overly precious. The exhibits are hands on in the main and extraordinary to think they aren't fakes, replica's (some are) but the real thing, used by real people, when it was cutting edge for the period. Absolutely superb for couples or mildly interested friends. Children are catered for but the few on site looked as though the play area was calling.
