“Fantastic welcome, relaxing surroundings and wonderful breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2011

Our room was very comfortable, and tea on the lawn was great while watching the red squirrels playing in the trees.
The Breakfast was wonderful (smoked salmon and egg on a toasted bagel was my choice).
We will be back

Dave and Jude are a lovely; welcoming couple.

The B and B is a lovely old building and the price was incredible value. What sets this place apart is not the rooms; decor or facilities available, but the helpfulness and sincere nature of the couple who run the place.

As soon as we arrived (late in the evening, I might add); Dave showed us around and told us to "make ourselves at home", and he really meant it. I've stayed in over 100 bed and breakfasts around Scotland, and often you feel like you're intruding into the owners' space. Not in this case.

The 'relaxation room' was lovely; the citronella oil burning in the hall was a nice touch, and the breakfast is in for a special mention.

This was the best selection of breakfast choices I've had in any guesthouse in Scotland, bar none. From the special porridge with blueberries, raisins and honey to the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, the menu was great.

It was a delight to go down to breakfast in the morning and be greeted by smiling hosts who had set the scene by playing some nice morning chill-out music, from Mark Knopfler to 'Dido' and looking out the window to the gardens surrounding the house.

I also mentioned to Dave that we might be interested in trying out some canoeing whilst there (Dave is a qualified canoe instructor). Despite the incredibly short notice (12 hours!), Dave said it wouldn't be a problem. He took us out for around 6 hours onto the river Spey and we had an absolutely wonderful time, I would highly recommend trying this whilst in the area whether you stay here or not, was the best day out we've had in 2 years.

In short; a lovely old house that has lots of charm, and a lovely couple who sincerely want to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

£30 per person per night (2 people); including breakfast, at peak season, we thought this was incredibly good value. Newtonmore is a lovely place, much nicer than Fort William and Inverness to stay in in my humble opinion, and I should know given how much I've travelled Scotland.

We'll definitely be back...

Came for a long weekend with 10 friends for a girlie get away. The minute we arrived and met Jude and Dave a calm settled over us and their home became ours. Massages and facials by Jude and the fabulous Fiona were fantastic and made us even more relaxed. Jude's cooking was amazing and their hospitality was second to none. Very sad to leave but very excited we've already booked to go longer next year. A place everone should experience, at least once, in their lifetime

A wonderful Victorian house with beautiful bedrooms, a warm welcome from your two hosts, great food and treatments to die for. Masses to do once there or just chill with a good book. Definitely a place to be re-visited.
Should be in the book ' A thousand places to visit before you die'

I recently stayed at the Beeches either side of a canoe trip down the majestic Spey River, guided by Dave, who also happens to run the Beeches with his lovely wife Jude. They gave me a fantastic welcome, making me feel straight away at home, and before I'd even unpacked I was tucking into Jude's delicious home made scones. My double room was comfortable and a great size, there is a lovely relaxation room for guests, and the whole place exudes an air of welcoming and calm. Jude's cooking is also not to be missed. This is a place to come and relax, and if you get a chance to do a canoe trip with Dave down the Spey, it's one of the best outdoor adventures I think you can have in the UK. Thanks guys

This place is heaven! Run by two wonderful, helpful and welcoming people. Nothing too much trouble. Excellent treatments. Food, cleanliness and facilities - first class. Alcohol free zone but you are welcome to taken your own. This beautiful place is easy to find too!! Great location with access to loads of activities. Just returned from a long weekend break with 10 friends and we had the place to ourselves. I'll definitely be going back and in fact we have reserved already for next year! Can't rate it highly enough a perfect place to either chill and relax or take part in adventurous activities - or both! like we did.

Room Tip: ALL the rooms are beautiful.
