I stayed three nights at The Lodge Hotel and can honestly say that it was a very enjoyable time. The good food, the comfortable rooms, and the wonderful people made our three nights and days a memorable visit.

Our group was a mixture of adults and teenagers, and we spent three nights at the hotel. We had a great experience. The hosts were fantastic. They were very friendly and made us feel at home. The food was delicious, and we had more than what we could eat for each meal. The hotel is definitely not like a chain, but I think that is a good thing. The rooms are large and the bathrooms function properly. The staff was very personable and did everything they could to make our stay a good experience. If I get the opportunity to return to this part of Scotland, I would love to stay there again.

This hotel has a beautiful exterior and slightly disappointing interior. But what it lacks in aesthetics, it makes up for in perfect service, great bathrooms and comfort. The food at the hotel is great and seems to be pretty much all that is available in the area.
This hotel is a great stopover for a night on your way to somewhere much more exciting.

i spent two nights here the rooms are very basic, well in need of re vamp, a comfortable bed, but i was exhausted from all the traveling i suppose you get what you pay for.
As i myself have knowledge and experience in the business the food had fancy names like most but it served basic cheap cash and carry stuff nothing like the local haggis i got from the butchers in next town, that was the real deal.
The main dish sauces were from the bulk buy dehydrated standard as expected to match the pumped up water filled chicken breast i had slapped on the plate, heard that from the dining room,a dam shame local produce was not used.
The waiting staff i can only say were a credit to the hotel they were excellent <very young school /students and low paid it seems > but alas they gave you the true taste of the scots people with genuine warmth and delightful conversation.
The English owners were very preoccupied and distant shame they couldn't embrace the hotel like the staff and that lack of enthusiasm is evident on outside, the upkeep and throughout the hotel.
When walking round a glimpse of the conditions via back door flooring state of passageway ,and the choice swearing of the chef to staff members, left me feeling i was glad to be leaving.
The next hotel on my research of coaching hotel/inns on a budget the lengths and breadth of Britain was seemed totally luxurious via comparison .

Room Tip: higher floors, front facing or a different hotel

The room we were in No 23 was basic and would have been nice to have had two bedside cabinets, needed updating really but on saying that, it is our only criticism of this hotel. It is spotless. Plenty of hot water fuffy white towels and lovely warm room. The food was fantastic a choice menu for dinner every evening complimentry scotch with haggis on our last evening just wonderful. Breakfast great the best fried eggs we've ever had in any hotel, thanks Simon! The dining room itself is lovely, tables had nice clean fresh table linen which is so important.
Now what can I say about the staff or where do I start ? They are all absolutely fantastic nothing was to much trouble, for instance our toilet seat broke, (screws just needed tightening) I reported it when we went down for breakfast and by the time we had eaten it was repaired unfortunatley it went again the following day, reported it again, went back to our room new seat being installed, well done.
Our waitresses were fabulous we had so much fun with them, after your first visit to the bar it was noted what you drank, next evening "your usual"? It made you feel so welcome.
Two nights of entertainment in the bar both very good but the husband and father of our waitresses had the edge, not only can he sing he's a very funny comedian.
We had a fantastic holiday and it's all down to the staff, they are without a doubt the loveliest of people and a lot of hotel staff at other hotels could learn a lot from them.

Nice hotel set in its own grounds. Old lodge with a modern extension. Rooms were clean tho mine was dated as I was in the old part. Has nice dining room for individual guests but as we were a coach party we ate in the function room. Nice cosy bar with a good range of drinks.
Food was excellent, fresh trout one night and haggis etc on another.
Only one thing to moan about..... the midges in the grounds, they BITE!

Stayed here with Travelstyle on a 5 day "bargain break" in late August. The room was a little basic but was clean and tidy with fresh towels and tea/coffee being replenished every day, some of the rooms had been updated and these looked very nice. The food was excellent throughout our stay with a good and varied choice. Staff were always pleasant and caring and went out of their way to be helpful. I could easily return to the Lodge but this time would request an updated room!
