“Could not have been better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2011

We have just returned from Ye Old Ferrie Inn and although initially dubious about staying in a pub/inn with an 18 month year old we were exceptionally pleased with everything about it. The initial welcome from staff was friendly and they could not do enough for us including collecting bags from the car, providing food to feed the ducks, recommending good walks etc.. The room was really clean and spacious and had a great view of the river. I treated myself to a local rump steak which was as good as I have had anywhere and the choice of ale was great. I would whole heartidly recommend this inn for families and only wish that we could have stayed another night.

We went for my birthday with a couple of friends...1st impression "WOW!" the view is absoulutely stunning, The actual inn is old and as you would expect very quaint, with it tiny and narrow staircase (dont take a massive suitcase haha) we were taken to our rooms on the top floor...excellent rooms, clean, tidy, and again the views from the window were beautiful. As for the staff what can I say?...warm welcome from Kate when we arrived, well mannered and polite bar staff and also the lady who served us breakfast (didnt get your name sorry!) as for Jamie (the owner) what a great guy..he made a point of speaking to everyone there making sure all was ok, he pointed us in the right direction as to what places to visit and where not to go...I really hope this place works out for him as you can see that as a new owner he is really trying to capture the beauty and the atmosphere that this place deserves...well done to you all, will definately return and recomend to anyone looking for a fab weekend away...

As a young couple with a 2 month old baby, going away for our anniversary was a little daunting but the staff could not have been more accommodating. Having booked a double room, we were given a triple en suite, which even with the extra bed still had plenty of room for the travel cot and all our stuff. Not knowing what to expect we had brought our own cot, but the one provided was nearly new and immaculately clean so we left ours in the car. The room was quiet despite a reasonably busy Friday night bar and restaurant below and it had a lovely view out over the river. Staff were more than happy to warm the baby's milk and sterilise the bottles so we could top up before we left, one of the waitresses even held our grumbling baby and rocked her next to our table so we could eat our dinner in peace. Room decoration was a little tired but very clean, food was good solid pub grub and there's a good selection at the bar. Would recommend this place as excellent value for money and will return ourselves.

I stayed at the bunk house with some friends in order to canoe the River Wye. The landlord was more than happy to accommodate a big group of us. He also gave us some free drinks and threw a complementary breakfast in. Many places on the river do not seem to want customers (ie the place opposite) but here was different. The sleeping quarters were basic but then we did pay budget prices. Highly recommended.

I dont write many reviews but i felt that "ye old ferrie inn " more than deserved a positive mention . The setting is absolutely stunning, the weather was very changeable from glorious sunshine to rain in minutes but it really didn't matter it was just nice to be somewhere where the loudest noise was the birdsong..
Full marks to Jamie and his team , very warm welcome and always on hand to direct us on the local walks, food and activities in the area.

Having just returned from a weekend stag do, I can confirm that all of the other top reviews of YOFI are 100% correct.

Despite there being a group of 22 lads (plus other residents) the Kate, Alex, Harry, the other chap (who's name I didn't catch) and the kitchen staff all did a truly fantastic job, whilst Jamie was out of town. Service was nothing short of brilliant, always came with a smile and ultimately delivered everything that could have been desired.

The bunk house is a bunk house, so don't expect luxury but it caters for everything you need, with clean beds and enough room for everyone to be there; I've certainly stayed in far worse places that have cost a lot more money and there were no qualms about being in there.

I'd go back to YOFI, without a doubt, whether it be for a stag do, a quite weekend away in the wilderness or just to drink the fine selection of Ales and Ciders that are on offer. In fact, I could quite fancy a pint of Butty Bach right now, although that's possibly a bit wrong given that it's just after 9am on a Monday morning...
