“Good pub lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

We stopped here for lunch and would return next time we're in the area. We ordered a beef burger with chips & salad (~£7), and the steak & ale pie with chips & peas (~£10) which took about 20 minutes to arrive. The food was very tasty, and decent portion sizes. The ale was well kept, good selection of non-alcoholic drinks, drinks were average price. Staff were friendly and the dining area and toilets were clean and well decorated.

We went fro Sunday lunch and found the food, atmosphere and service only acceptable.
Beef was brisket (which I don't normally consider a roasting cut) and all veg arrived on your plate.
Wine is v pricey.
Others appeared to be enjoying themselves, but service is really slow.

Stayed in room 3 which is a good size, immaculately presented and very homely. Evening meal and breakfast were both very good. Simple food cooked to order (not reheated mass produced stuff). Kaye and her staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly providing attentive service. A refreshing change from the featureless large nationwide hotel chains that us business travellers have to endure. A great little find that I look forward to visiting again.

We booked here four rooms for the run up to my daughters wedding. We were greeted with a friendly atmosphere and made most welcome. Nothing was any trouble happy to accommodate all our needs. Rooms were absolutely beautiful very classy and looked fantastic on the morning of the wedding photos. Food was beautiful plenty of choice all home cooked to perfection very good priced too . Lovely atmosphere in the pub landlady was great made time to chat with all customers making a relaxed enjoyable evening. Sunday morning we had ordered many breakfasts at various times to suit us. On arrival of many more bridesmaids hairdressers and make up artists fifteen people arrived and the landlady and staff made breakfast baps on demand many teas and coffees they attended all our needs during the build up to the wedding. They were on hand with cake storing flowers they happily came across to the rooms many times to see if they could help. It was lovely they cud be part of the morning too. My daughter had the most fantastic morning it is a beautiful venue situated in a small quiet village with beautiful views. I would like to thank everyone for making the day perfect . We had late checkouts too . I would highly recommend it is well worth a visit. We will return julie mark

Room Tip: All rooms were lovely we chose the two superior rooms for wedding photos very spacious beautiful dec...

Pleasant village with another couple of pubs, the room was fine, nice chatty owner eager to help and the staff were polite and attentive. the food in the restaurant was very good and not overpriced in comparison to other local eateries, busy breakfast but owner remained unflustered, I would stay again when in the area.

Lovely pub with a very expensive drinks tariff. Add that to a rude and obnoxious landlady and food which was ok but the price of a 5 star restaurant you have a place that is better to avoid. Much better eating house down the road and a better drinking pub just up the road.
