“never again!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

I went there two years in the row with my family when we got there we had to wait around for two hours waiting around to get in our room and then we had to wait in the Que for half an hour to get our passport checked then when we went in our room the toilets was so smelly we had to move rooms and then we went for food very bad we had to live on chips everyday and always the same deserts. The bar people were very nice but miserable the beach was like grit and the current in the sea was pulling you in. Kids club was good pool was very cold and dirty never again!!

So our holiday cost under £170 each for two of us in July this year, all inclusive. We were mainly swayed to choose by the price. It's in a good location for families/ couples, being busy enough to have some bars and restaurants, along with other entertainment, without being Magaluf.. Also, the drinks were decent, and it's only a two minute walk to the beach... This is pretty much the positive covered!
The room we had was TINY, considering I'm 6ft tall and my boyfriend is 6"7, there was no way either of us would be able to have a bath, as it was 2ft long, and the shower was stuck permanently on cold all week as well. Whenever going to the reception to ask about anything, the staff would no longer speak English as well, despite perfect linguistic skills previously.
The staff in the restaurant were also incredibly rude at times, with one waitress in particular taking an instant dislike to us and proceeding to make our stay as uncomfortable as possible. Also, unless you grabbed a table by the window, you were stuck in canteen style tables with everyone else. Romantic.
Myself and my partner both ended up being ill from the food as well, but generally it was bearable, however one day the salad bar served frozen sweetcorn which was interesting at best!!
All in all, if you can't afford anything better, this place will do if you can avoid the niggles. If you can afford better, do.

We were booked to stay at the Planamar from 25th October - 4 November. However when we arrived we were told that we couldn't stay there as they were closing in 2 days time! They arranged a taxi (which they paid for) and transferred us 3 resorts south to another one of their hotels. That was as far as our holiday got at the Planamar!!

we stayed here unfortunately on the 8th october - 12 october 2012 from arriving at the hotel, i asked if we could have bottled water because it wouldnt agree with our stomachs the receptionist woman cudnt understand us, she expected us to drink their own tap water, i went to the bar where they said we had to pay 30 cents for a small bottle whereas we were all inclusive it said when we booked that they provide it for free, we got to our hotel room, a year before we put in a special request to have a sea view and a double bed, but were given a horrible view, and 2 single beds which had a massive gap and cudnt be put together, our room number was 305, i went down to reception to explain and the bloke on reception said that we shud be lucky the view that we have and that they don't do double rooms but specifically when we booked it said they did double rooms so false advertising thats why we booked because we are a couple and wanted to share a bed, theirs literally no entertainment aswell, the food had very little, im not a fussy eater and would eat anything but the fish still had eyes in it, we mentioned to the head waiter about the problem a few times he said write down what food you would like in and he would order it for the next day but we went back down the next day and still the same just chips and pasta and some horrible food that a dog would put its nose up at, their doesnt seem to be a rep at this hotel and the staff seemed to not know english very well, the head waiter didnt listen to what the customers liked and just presumed every1 would like the food, the bread buns were so hard, we had to eat out every day but cud only afford to eat out once a day as we didnt take much due to going all inclusive, if it werent for the robin hood pub we wouldnt of known what we would of done tbh they said that we picked the worst hotel on the island and said every1 of their customers mostly come from their as they say they hate the hotel, on the last night that made me really poorly and i was being ill allday in bed, theres no cheap fast food places around there aswell, its my partners first time abroad and it's really put her off going again, ive read so many reviews on here bwt the hotel when they say its brilliant and what you pay for me and my partner think omg what hotel are they on about as honestly do not listen to them its a bunch of lies, they must not have any taste buds and must be the hotel who put them on, we paid nearly £500 for 4 nights all inclusive, transfers and everything and we were robbed alot of ppl paid less but just shows you how agencys can rip you off, if your after somewhere to go and your a young couple go to lloret de mar as our rooms were poorly maintained aswell and a couple who stayed at same hotel who we met asked if they could have a bottle of milk from reception to be made up for them because the baby always wakes up for one and they said no they can't because its closed and wouldnt even open it back up for them so horribly had to go to a pub to get some milk for the baby which i thought was very disgusting and also it states allday snacking for all inclusive guests what a bunch of bull they stopped it all the time and would open again for tea, we tried more than a few times to see what food was on but constantly nothing edible that we could see, it really ruined our holiday that the hotel couldnt speak english and werent bothered or concerned of their guests, this hotel needs re-evaluating and i would advise no-one to go to this hotel i wouldnt pay a penny would rather be at home or would rather go to primrose valley than go to somewhere like here its not worth the time and effort, hotel man on reception is rude and when you complain they say i dont understand you and their doesnt seem to be a manager ever present and also the beds are so uncomfortable like thorns in your back and lastly you get tiny plastic cups for your drink you can only have 1 at a time and have to bring it back, this hotel is a joke to be honest!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: dont go here fullstop because if you do you will never have a good room as they are all badly mainta...

We went to the htop planamar two weeks ago now and got back last week. Upon arrival off our coach transfer we were dissapointed before we walked off the street into the hotel. There were a lot of people sat outside when we got there around midnight which was good for us but quite frankly wished we were staying on the coach until the next hotel. It looked dated from the outside and not a lot was going on when we entered the gates into the hotel.

I have to say we read some bad reviews about the male receptionist but we got there and he was pretty helpful. We checked in quickly and then went to our room which was located on the first flooor. The initial impression of the room was that it was very plain and cramped, three single beds lined up in a row with not a lot of room in between, the walls has been whitewashed which made them very dull, no pictures in the room, something so simple would have brightened it up at least a little bit, so we had a look around and a little laugh to ourselves over the simplicity and lack of effort put into the decor.......but then we thought well this is the cheapest holiday we could find and what did we expect at £200 pp all inclusive. Its somewhere to sleep and for ad thats all we needed, were not the kind to spend too much time in the room while were on holiday.

The bar and bar staff were really good, plastic cups, which we knew about before we got there. Sometimes a slight queue at the bar but that was soon shortened by the staff serving quickly. The AI cards can be used in all the sister hotels, which we visited each day, the free transfer bus stops in September so we had to find our own way using trains and buses, not ideal but we managed it with directions from the male receptionist, always happy to help......even if using a fake smile now and again!!!

The entertainment on the evenings was nothing to look forward to, one day was bingo, twice live music acts but the other times was just a speaker playing songs. We went out for the majority of nights because it gets a bit tedious staying in the hotel all day and night.

Food was the biggest dissapointment for us. The first day we went for breakfast which meant getting up and out of bed before ten, local time, but we wanted to check it out. Wish we hadn't bothered for hot dogs, powdered scrambled egg, bean juice with no beans, chewy cereal, warm milk, pineapple slices, bread rolls, tasteless cheese and platic ham slices. We decided it wasnt worth getting up early for and didnt bother for the rest of the holiday.

Lunch and dinner were no better, with cheap meat lacking any flavour, always sardines, the hotdogs from breakfast made into something and pigs cheeks or chicken making up the majority of dishes. The restaurant manager in the waste coat understood our worries and said that the food was rarely different. We ate out of the hotel every night apart from the small tubs of icecream that we reguarly took advantage of.

The walls of the room are wafer thin and you can hear everything going on ouside, on Saturday night that was until 6am and people walking through the corridor sound like they could be in the same room as you. The same with the neighbours, so just hope you get good people next door as you will hear it ll if they are noisy and dont care about what others can hear!!

A lot of the reviews of this hotel make it sound worse than it is. It was the cheapest all inclusive holiday we could find for October and for that we didnt expect too much. We had everything we needed, we just didnt want it. The area was lacking in things to do, all of the shops close by were tourist souvenier shops but no activities to keep you entertained. If you want to go somewhere and not care what you eat (like Pat) or just go for a week to drink and sit by the pool then this is all you need. If you want to go somewhere and enjoy days out and keeping busy then i wouldnt recommend it, plenty of people seemed to like it for what it was and even people staying for two weeks. Its not somewhere i will be going again but for what it was i cant really complain at the amount we paid for the week!!

I suppose you get what you pay for and thats the bottom line.

Have just returned from a short break at the H Top Planamar, on arriving at reception we were greeted by two female guests having argument with the staff, the police then arrived and arrested them! At the same time an extremely drunken man was carried past us who could not stand up. Check in at reception was very slow, lift only holds two people????
Once we were allocated our room we found this very, small dated and the patio door did not lock.
The food was of reasonable quality though very poor choice compared to other AI hotel we have been too. The drinks are served in plastic glasses which was ok but only one drink per person this was annoying even though we are not drinkers but soft drinks are the same.

One our last night we were kept up most of the night due to very rowdy spainish shouting and chanting from 3.50am to 6.50am.
All in all the hotel is very dated and could do with some TLC.
We will not be returning to the H.Top Planamar or Malgrat.

Room Tip: Just dont bother going here.
