“Overbooked again!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

This is the second year we have booked this hotel and despite having a guaranteed booking from their own reservation system, we were told due to technical problems they did not have a room and therefore were moving us to another hotel. Whilst in resort we checked online an their were rooms available!!

Last time we booked we arrived we were told there was no rooms due to a fire on the second floor! Bad luck, Or maybe they may not like a gay couple staying there? We won't be trying to book again.

Room Tip: I just hope you get one!

On one site you have to different star rooms. We stay in the Luna club which was meant to be 4 star. Whilst the rooms were 4 star you only had access to the 3 star facilities. If you are a frequent traveller and you are expecting 4 star facility then do not book this hotel. The staff were very nice except from when we arrived at 1130pm and we had booked all inclusive and was told that we had to pay 8euros for 4 bottle of water has the all inclusive had finished at 11pm. They did not take into account that we had paid all inclusive for that day and not use it due to our late arrival. We were told to go and drink tap water by the receptionist. poolside was small, there was never enough sun beds. you had the seasonal sunbathers who put their towels on the sun beds first thing in the morning.

Whilst we were all inclusive, towels and other resources wasn't available until 11am.

The restaurant was okay but the flies were a problem.

Entertainment is questionable!!!

The beach was close by and the main shopping strip was only 2 minutes away.

I wouldn't return to this hotel.

We had a fantastic holiday at La Luna Club staying on the 4* side with a beautiful pool view. Staff are very friendly and professional, with plenty of smiles. We got off to abit of a bad start with miscommunication between Low Cost Holidays and the hotel meaning for the first 2 nights we were all in the same room( 2 adults &2 older children). Staff were very apologetic and immediately sought to rectify this by offering us compensatory Full board from half board. The pools were great and never too busy or noisy to swim in peace. However, my husband did have to go down each morning at 8 am to put a towel down( although there are lots of signs to say this is forbidden - pple do). I particularly enjoyed the yoga and t'ai chi with Miquel, who was very kind and calming which added an extra dimension to a usual'package holiday'. I had an outside but private massage outside and enjoyed a family bike ride/ tour around the sea front and town with Miguel which was a lot of fun- we all enjoyed this! Food was varied and tasty with a lot of different sections: cooked eggs/ omelettes, bacon, ham and cheese etc for b/ fast, rice, ham, soup, stews, chicken, beef for lunch and dinner plus complimentary cava at breakfast , however some of chicken didn't look cooked sometimes. Poolside bar very relaxed and well managed with reasonable priced drinks and comfy chairs. Air conditioning not too powerful but worked at night with door shut and curtains drawn in the day, im very fussy about this but it kept me nice and cool. Entertainment on the whole very good, with English ( very good) and Spanish singers, parrots show and Flamenco dancers. the main let down being the Saturday night disco by Festa music with a DJ with the personality of a wet dishcloth( he didn't speak and just played compilation CD's) go out when he's on! Hotel situated on side street few mins walk from the sea front which means its not noisy with no passing tourists or noisy discos. We went to Barcelona on the train ,the station being on the front after aright hand turn towards Santa susanna ( 20 min walk from hotel). Beware of pick pockets in Barcelona as we caught one in the act! Fabulous hotel and holiday- we would definitely recommend it and would love to return one day.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

My fiance and I stayed for 5 nights before a city break in Barcelona as we wanted a reasonably priced all inclusive stay not too far away from our flights to and from Barcelona El Prat to chill out around the pool.

We booked the Luna Club 4* side as had been told the rooms were larger, nicer and had air con (which the 3* side does not). The room was great - had everything you need (toiletries, hairdryer etc), decent sized balcony and was modern (flat screen TV compared to old style in 3* side). Though it had a fridge this was not stocked with drinks which we are usually used to on all inclusive holidays but we simply bought some from the nearby supermarket (5 min walk away).

The drinks on the all inclusive were excellent - san miguel on tap which pleased me, and also sangria on tap which pleased my fiance! Could also get cava, spirits, soft drinks and a small number of cocktails which my other half said were lovely. By the main bar on the 3* side there was ice cream readily available for all inclusive guests throughout the day which is a nice touch if staying with kids (although we weren't with kids ourselves we still tucked in to this!).

The main pool is large and clean, and there were always plenty of sunbeds available despite the hotel being busy. There is also a garden area around the back of the Club side with lots of sunloungers and a saltwater pool (we didn't use this area but plenty of others did which is maybe why there were always sunloungers free at the main pool). There is a lovely indoor pool with jacuzzi in the Club side basement which we enjoyed and it hardly ever seemed to attract many people which was a plus.

We didn't tend to watch the evening entertainment up close, prefering instead to watch from our balcony, but it didn't seem up to much, especially compared to other holidays we have been on. Mostly singers with almost the same setlist which does get a bit tedious after 5 nights of the same songs. Disappointed to have not had a Flamengo show on too which is usually the norm on Spanish holidays!

The main downside to our stay was the food. We always travel all inclusive so are never expecting fine dining, but my fiance (who is a bit of a fussy eater) has always found plenty to choose from on holidays in the Caribbean, Egypt etc and so we were expecting Spain to offer even more suitable choices than the previously mentioned places. This. however, was not the case. Breakfast was fine - omelettes/fried eggs/pancakes all cooked on the grill infront of you as well as sausages, american style bacon etc. Lunch was also OK - there was always something to eat - rice dishes/grilled meats and fish/salad etc. Can also eat lunch from the Snack bar on the Club side which offered pizzas, hotdogs etc if you prefer a less formal lunch. But dinner was awful. Plain pasta with no sauce, meat (mostly rabbit) with almost all bone, and a lot of fish stews that either did not look desirable or had plenty of bones still intact. We ended up eating out most nights after taking a look around the food on offer, which after having paid for all inclusive, was disappointing. I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that both sides of the hotel share the same restaurant, and so the hotel might want to look at this as people paying 4 star prices are only receiving 3 star food - a little misconceiving perhaps?

All in all we had a good time at the Luna Club - the staff were friendly and the room and facilities around the hotel were nice. However, we wouldn't return purely based on the food available. I would recommend that unless you eat absolutely anything then to book somewhere else or just go half board - the hotel would have been excellent otherwise!

Room Tip: Book the four star side and ask for a balcony overlooking the pool.

We tried to book the Luna Club Hotel but were told it was fully booked, so had to book at the Luna Park. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to the Club, ( chuffed to bits ) The Luna park is 3 star, the Luna Club is 4 Star and you can tell the difference. Room more spacious, lounge area very nice, use of indoor pool, and all the relaxing stuff. The meals were very good, breakfast was great bacon every day, fried eggs, almost a full English. They also had a children menu, vegetarian and show cooking, the best food we have had in a Spanish hotel. The only downside to this hotel is the waiting for a table in the evening, you queue all the way down the stairs. We had live entertainment each night, the staff were friendly and spoke good English and the hotel is in a good position for shops, bars and the train stop is not far away. We had a very pleasant stay here and will be going back.

Room Tip: Luna Club rooms are more spacious, but there can be noise at weekends from club goers making their w...
