“Lovely little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

I stayed 5 nights at this family run hotel in the small village of Alaro (approx. 20 minutes by taxi from the Palma airport). The hotel is owned and run by a charming German-Argentinian couple and caters mostly to British and German tourists. It has only I believe 6 or 7 bedrooms so it never feels crowded. The hotel is decorated with taste, and has the feel of "home from home". There is a swimming pool in the garden behind the house.
I had the Orange room on top floor which was very nice. NOTE: the room faced the street, and as Alaro is a small village, all streets are used by cars and motorbikes, there is no "main road" to speak of. This is a problem not only for the Petit Hotel but for all the hotels and B&B in the village. It is inevitable that the rooms facing the street are not very quiet. People drive their cars and motorbikes through the streets also at night so you hear the noise late into the night and very early in the morning.
The hotel is run in a very relaxed manner. Breakfast is provided but you can also use the kitchen to cook your own meals. There are soft drinks and wine on offer and an honesty book where guests write down their consumption. This is then charged upon check-out.
Angela and Mauro (owners) were very helpful with advice on various attractions on the island.
Overall, I had a very pleasant stay there and would recommend the hotel.

As for the restaurants in the village, there is not much choice. I would recommend 1904 which is unpretentious and offers delicious tapas (huge portions compared to UK so be careful not to order too much at the beginning). They also make pizza (didn't try it, though) and the cook can be seen through the glass wall juggling the dough on his finger. I avoided C'an Punta on the village square as the waiter there was really rude.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the garden.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2010

This was a great find a lovely house in a super small town. We were made to feel very much at home by Mauro the owner, You are encouraged to treat the house as your own home, if you feel like a cup of tea or coffee or a snack then just use the kitchen. The fridge was always full of lovely local wine, beer and cava just help yourself and make a note in the book. Breakfast on the terrace was very good with eggs cooked any way you want. The bedrooms were spotless and very comfortable. The local area was very beautiful with lovely walks and a easy drive into the Orient Valley not to be missed. We were lucky enough to be there during a festival in the town which has a couple of very good restaurants and made for a very memorable evening, we will return.

Situated a few streets back from the main square, this hotel has a wonderful laid-back vibe about it with a pool, lovely open seating areas inside and out and big rooms. Lots of local artwork on the walls. Big bathroom with rain-shower. Would definitely stay again.
