“An excellent hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

We stayed for 10 nights from July 16th, 2 families with 3 kids aged 8, 6 & 6 and a fantastic time was had by all. We stayed in premium sea view rooms and they were great spotlessly clean and amazing views.

The food is one of the best things about the hotel, choice was great and lots of fresh 'off the grill' meat so you could see exactly what you were having rather than being hidden in gravy or sauce. Mexican and Italian theme nights were excellent! Kids choice very good too, with spaghetti Bol, pizza, hot dog etc available at every meal. Even though it was school holiday time, restaurant never felt overcrowded and we never waited for a table even though there were 7 of us. The view and sea breeze sitting outside is wonderful.

Drinks choice is excellent, I was on Absolut vodka and there were plenty of branded drinks available. The red wine was especially good and the white and rose very drinkable. Also cappuccino is all inc as well as regular coffee which was a nice touch.

Pirate Island was a big hit with the kids and the adults too as it is totally enclosed with only 1 way in/out and water no more than say 30cm deep plus a lifeguard is always on duty! Bar there serves beer, soft drinks and pizza and toasties but no hot drinks or spirits. Kids all inclusive ice creams were cornetto type or tub ice cream or strawberry split all very good. Would have liked to see some ice lollies tho as these were what kids wanted in the heat, even a 'Mr Freeze' type ice pop would have been a hit! We got stung for Calipos every day lol

Main pool is busy but can always get sun beds any time of day, you have to be down around 8am to get on front row with sea view tho! Same at pirate island, always free beds somewhere. Beach is gorgeous and sea is crystal clear just beautiful! Steps up to hotel look daunting but it's really just a few minutes and even carrying buckets and spades etc kids didn't bat an eye.

The Animation team here are absolutely brilliant! Jeffrey, Raffa, Britt, Jo, Daniellie and Alex and all the others work so hard and are especially great with the kids. Felt like we knew them all by the time we left! They encourage everyone to join in but are not pushy so if you prefer to just watch there's no pressure. They really make the hotel atmosphere which is great, happy and relaxed. The hotel songs they do every night are brilliant, I guarantee you'll be dancing by the end of your stay!

The shows of an evening are probably the weakest point. The Chinese acrobats are good but others brought in shows were quite poor. The animation team do 3 shows a week and although some are not great quality (Grease was on our first night and we weren't impressed) when you know the team they are much more entertaining to watch! They do work hard but the outside acts need to be improved as there is no other entertainment available. Also when show finishes it dies off dramatically (10.30 ish) and they just have background music on. I felt another hour of music with lights on would have been better as older kids and adults were up till after 12 most nights.

Overall though a wonderful holiday and I felt I could have stayed for a full 2 weeks here which usually I always feel is too long. Will definitely return!!

Room Tip: Sea view is a must!

This hotel really is a hidden gem, this was booked on the recommendation of a friend and as such we had high expectation which the hotel well and truly lived up to.

Rooms : As mentioned previously in other reviews, the standard rooms need a little bit of a refresh and yes i agree, however they are spotlessly clean. The rooms were easily big enough for our family (myself, wife and two kids (5/8)), there is plenty of storage space and a nice balcony to savour a pre-dinner drink before heading down.

Food/Drink : The food and drinks are fabulous, with a great variety of cold and hot food at meal times as well as having the snack restaurant open between 11 and 6pm. Drinks from the bar are labelled spirits and a selection of lagers either Hieneken, San Miguel or Estrella Damm. All of which tasted pretty good with 30+ heat.

Resort : The resort itself is small and you do feel a little isolated, but isnt that part of a holiday? If you feel the urge you can walk to Cala Blanca which has a few shops, there are also a few restaurants outside of the hotels which are lovely for a drink/snack. The rooms are located on the side of a hill and therefore steps are inevitable, the good news is that the steps are worth it especially if you have a sea view room. The views are amazing and the positioning of the hotel in the resort is second to none. You really can loose yourself in the views.

Pools : Two main pools, one to a depth of 1.45m and one to a depth of 1.8m. Both pools are warm although the smaller of the two can get a little busy by mid afternoon. If you like to get a good sunbed position I would advise popping down around 7:45-8am as it did get busy quite quickly. The change over days really made a difference and on some days we were one of only a few round the pool in the mornings.

Trips : We hired a car for a day and discovered the Hippy Market which is fabulous, its like a typical balearic island market but without the tat! We also went to Ibiza town which is well worth a visit, lovely shops, bars and restaurants with a very sophisticated feel. lovely!

The hotel and bar staff are great and always went out of their way to help. When it comes to the animation team they are amazing, they work extremely hard without being too pushy when trying to drum up support for the activities. We have been on numerous holiday with animation teams and i beleive Cala Verde has one of the best. The shows varied in quality, but we can recommend the 'Round the world in 8 trips' and 'Grease'.

Overall we loved Cala Verde and would defintely return, we think 10 days would have been enough but we had the joy of spending 2 weeks. I would really recommend this hotel, you surely will not be dissappointed.

Special mention to Alex, Jo, Jeffrey, Carmen and Vanya thanks for making our holiday so great!

Stayed at cala verde for ten nights. Two families both with girls aged 5 & 6. Couldn't fault this place it's lovely food is good there is always something you can find to eat as the offer each mealtime is so vast. Even for the kids my girl is the faddiest eater in the world but she even managed to find something even if it was nuggets chips and peas I preferred the downstairs restaurant (the one you don't book) as it has more choice however the freak omelettes at late breakfast in the upstairs restaurant are very good. Pools are great and very clean and do are all the public areas with tables constantly cleared and wiped. The pirate ship is amazing and the little snack bar does good pizzas and toasties are fresh cooked to order by juan a very hard working little old man. He seems a bit moody but he's not a friendly smile and hola and he soon responds. The beach is good but the sand was very hot so flip flops at the ready. The few little shops stock all the basics crisps sweets sun cream milk etc and also the souvenir shop has plenty of Nik naked to bring home at reasonable prices. The toys and balls etc for the pool can be bought cheaply here too. Shuttle bus into es canar and Santa eulalia is great as it's free and if you want to have a full day rather then get the shuttle back as they only give you a couple of hours the taxi is only 15e. There is also a little Thomas train from outside hotel it's a three hour trip two ten min stops the an hour at Santa e then home this cost around 40e for a family of three and you don't get long enough at final stop the shuttle is better with a taxi back and much cheaper. But we enjoyed the train it was a nice morning. There is plenty to do on complex and has to be as it is too far out to walk anywhere. The entertainment for kids is great with the show and dancing then mini disco later. I would recommend this place and would love to go again. Also all spirits are named/branded so this is a bonus if you have a buggy beware there are lots of hills slopes and steps as you would expect as the hotel is built on the mountain side of the beach but we've been to other resorts with steeper hills it's just one of those things. Accommodation is spotless and maids work very hard. Our jet 2 rep dean was ... Ok he didn't seem that bothered to be fair but this is a reflection on jet 2 and not on cala verde. A great family holiday had by all thank you invisa

Have just returned from a great 10 night holiday at the cala verde. It is a great place for families or other travellers who don't mind families. Travelled with husband and 7 and 4 year old kids who did not want to leave. The cala verde is small enough to give the kids a bit of freedom but as it is linked with the cala blanca it also has a larger hotel feel about it. There is a mix of nationalities and my son made good friends with an Italian boy ...the kids club make it easy for the kids to integrate. The animation team work very hard and are friendly with a great sense of humour. The rooms are basic but very clean as is the whole hotel. The beach is accessed by a number of steps but again is a lovely clean beached with warm sea. we hired towels for a 20 euros deposit and you could change these as many times as you wanted. The food was good and even with a couple of fussy eaters in the family, there was always something to eat. We ate at the calas blanca a couple of nights which was busier but had a wider food selection. You had to book at reception to eat at the cala blanca hotel. All in all a great holiday and have already re booked for next year

we booked this place with jet2holidays and took flights from Blackpool (which was great-no 10 mile hike to get to gates etc)
On arrival restaurant was due to close(10pm) so they did cursory check in and escorted us to dinner where we were made welcome by the host.
On completing check in we got help with our bags and a ride in golf buggy to our block Tagomago.
The room (a junior suite) was clean and fresh, with all beds including sofa bed made up.
There were complimentary drinks and snacks in the fridge and a pod coffee machine primed for use
there was free air con which was welcome due to the 32+ degree daytime temp.
The pool and bar areas were clean with lovely planted gardens and direct access to beach
Food was all inclusive on our package and was of great quality and variety and even my fussy eaters were happy at most mealtimes. All drinks including majority of branded spirits were included with usual Spanish measures (large applying)
snacks pizza toasties and soft drinks ice creams were all included -we returned stuffed full after our weeks stay.
Entertainment was top class with animation team and outside performers employed at 2 of the pools/bars each evening
Only downside was the stereotypical German and French habits of not queuing blocking sunbeds with towels and general rudeness . The majority of guests were French/german
Hotel organised free bus trips to hippy market and nearest town Santa Eulalia which were a welcome break from the poolside fun
If you are looking for a hotel based break in Ibiza I rec.ommend you give this place a look

The Hotel Cala Verde is a lovely hotel, the staff are all extremely friendly, the rooms are clean (although beds a little hard) and fresh looking, the food is plentiful and varied to a degree if you liked fish you will be absolutely in heaven! My kids found something to eat everyday and there can be picky as not into the usual chips/burgers/fish fingers that most would be happy eating. The animation team are extremely hard working and really make this hotel worth visiting, they are almost non-stop from morning till night and are always smiling. Although we didn't really join in with the activities as we like to veg out on our hols it would be unacceptable not to mention the amazing job they do you would literally never be bored if you like joining in on your holidays. The pools were a nice size and suitable to all childrens depth a real +++++ as some hotels are ridiculously deep. There is also the sister hotel you can use all facilities for but after a walk around the grounds we felt we were definately at the best out of the two hotels. We did use the pirate island once but my kids soon got bored although it was a great hit with me and lots of the other kids would spend all day round there. The beach is lovely nice gradual slope and 2 sunbeds and a parasol cost 14e per day if you go back for lunch they will put a reserved sign on them to save them for your return or if you go down after lunch they halve the price which was and unusual bonus! scenic views are also amazing!
Now for the slight negatives......
If you have any mobility issues do not go.... there are steps steps and more steps, steps to blocks of rooms which then have a lift. steps down to the beach ...over 100 of them (althou there is also a slope down) but either on the way back up can be a killer ! the whole place is a sea of steps LOL.
Also if you like to have a walk out of an evening and sit in different bars/cafes wonder through shops... again do not go... i read it was remote with nothing else to do but i was not expecting this. The 2 hotels are the only things there really... other than a spar shop and a little souvenir shop which are next to the sister hotel there realy isnt anywhere else to go. The hotel runs a free shuttle bus to Santa Eulalia which is approx 20mins away by bus which is lovely with a harbour and a mass of cafes and shops....do book this well in advance as we booked day before and was restricted to times of return due to it being booked up.
There is also a fair few trips you can go on we went on the sunset cruise which was sold as being 45mins on the bus but was more like 1hr 20, which with 2 grouchy kids isn't ideal but it was a lovely cruise.
Lack of free WiFi was another slight downside as many hotels now do offer this.
All in all this is a lovely hotel and is full of fun and as lively as you want to make it, for me personally I probably wouldn't return due to the lack of bars/cafes etc I would however book for Es canar or Santa Eulalia the next 2 resorts however my husband and son both said they would return so the vote is split.
You could go and spend nothing, this is the 1st holiday i've actually brought money home with me so if you are looking for a fun filled, secluded, value for money holiday this is definitely the place for you, and although I have said a few negatives this is purely me being extremely critical to give everyone an honest truthful review.. :)

Room Tip: Most have some kind of sea view
