I am an expert on cheap package deals and know how to get a cheap holiday! i also understand if its cheap then chances are its not going to be the best quality hotel. Club Alvor golf wasnt that bad, our apartment was massive and very spacious and the pool was quiet with enough sunloungers. The room was cleaned regularly and the reception staff were lovely, the main problem was i think it had just been or was on the brink of being sold so there was no bar and no shop, eg nowhere to buy food and drink. we went to the hotel next door (which is 4* and lovely) and got lunch and drinks but for essentials like water and crisps (for me and my friends crisps are essential!) we had to walk to the supermarket which was a good 15mins away. the town of Alvor was a 20-25 min walk, and the only time we went to the beach was when we hired a car because it was such a trek! Portugal is beautiful and the weather was lovely and Alvor, although small had a good selection of restaurants and bars and at the weekend the streets filled with locals which was lovely and made it feel a lot less touristy. I'd definatly go to the area again but i prob wouldn't go the Club Alvor Golf because it was just too out of the way.
