We've been to the apartments for 5 years. The pools are lovely and big with a private beach with overlooking restaurant. Close to the town of Alvor by the beach but 25 min walk by path.
But on the downside the decor can be quite old in some apartments compared to the more modern townhouses. The apartments are comfortable. A nice plus is a separate kitchen with washing machine. There are no life guards (and life rings are badly maintained) kids clubs. At night the nearest bar is on the beach and gets very crowded and expensive. Although a bar and restaurant at the hotel area uts recent decoration in plain white has left ut stark and uninviting. It could really do with some music and atmosphere. An awful pity no entertainment in evening as the place is in nice grounds and very clean.

I stayed here in September 2013, I was extremely disappointed with the standard of accommodation, Prainha Village and Prainha Clube are in the same complex, Prainha Clube accommodation is lovely, but Prainha Village is awful, I think this is due to a lot of it being Time Share properties. We changed apartment 3 times, due to dirty floors, dampness, and broken furniture. We ended up in a 2 Bed Townhouse at the front of the complex, furthest from reception, this was wonderful and a far cry from the one Bed Apartments we had booked, I would highly recommend the Townhouse, but the Apartments are really a lottery situation and depends on how lucky you are on day of arrival as to what is available. The beach is fabulous and the Atlantic Pond is really nice, but you have to pay €5.00 for use of a sunbed in the Atlantic Pond, but you can always lie on the grass. It is about a 25/30 min walk to the resort centre, you can walk along the beachfront in the evenings, really nice stroll. Overall I loved Alvor and would highly recommend, if booking this complex, go for the Prainha Clube or the Townhouses.

Room Tip: Do not book the Village, this is time share property, go for the Clube or Village Townhouses

We didn't stay in the apartments of the hotel but in the owners village apartments. We came to the pool everyday and really enjoyed it. The staff on bar are friendly and helpful but the staff and reception are far from it. We asked the reception staff to phone us a restaurant to book they first stated this would be no problem. Then they asked us was in cancio the one that they own, we said no. The phone was put down and they told us if its not there restaurant they wouldn't do it. I was surprised how unhelpful the reception staff were. The hotel sell wifi at ridiculous prices so we bought wifi of meo wifi online, this was much cheaper and worked throughout the hotel and at the outside bar ! We eat here at lunch time some days it was just ok not brilliant. We were glad we were not staying the the hotel as the rooms weren't overally private.

We have spent a week here based on a friend's recommendation, and I must say it was one the best locations we've ever stayed for holiday.
We've been with small children and everyone enjoyed I believe fully.

You have plenty of choices to relax, either at the hotel pools, or 5 minutes walk away at the marvelous pool by the sea, or you can take the elevator through the rocks to that idyllic little bay at the seaside ... I could spend hours to talk about how great this place is, a perfect combination of location, surroundings and facilities.

I can warmly recommend for everyone to visit this property

We arrived at the reception, 4 adults n 5 kids,( so we had quite a bit of luggage) only to b told we were to make r own way to r accommodation, that wud b fine but the resort is big n stretches quite far. They provided a map of the resort n sent us on r way, out beside a busy road with bags n kids to carry. Nothing was sign posted so took us a long time to find r townhouse., not to mention both receptionists has given us different directions.
On arriving at the townhouse (which had a strong smell of damp) we discovered none of the air conditioning (we paid extra for this when we booked) was working so we decided to ring reception....however, there was no phone provided!
Portugal is a beautiful country and the people are great but I would not b staying at Prainha again. The resort to the front is quite well maintained (for obvious reasons!) but the townhouses to the back are not! The fact that we were abt a 10 minute walk to the main reception meant if we had any problems we cud not contact them quickly. Yes, we all had mobile phones but with no details of any numbers for emergencies etc left in the townhouse to contact we felt a bit cut off, especially as we had young children with us. ( There is no wifi provided so was difficult to even look up a number for prainha reception on r mobiles!)
Prainha: poor quality, over priced, wud not recommend it

4 adults and 5 kids under 6 stayed in 2 2 bedroom villas. Having checked in, we were given a map and 2 wheelbarrows for the luggage to make our way to the villas. What should have taken only 15 minutes took over an hour due to complete lack of signposts in this sprawling holiday village. Apart from a sign directing you to the supermarket and restaurant, there are no others directing you to the different groups of villas - and this place is a maze! Finally we arrived to a decent 2 bedroom villa, clean, well equipped (but no hairdryer FYI). I was a bit disturbed that there was no phone, and no information pack - what if we get sick, one of the kids falls down the tiled stairs, we need an ambulance or doc?!? No phone, no info, can't even ring from mobile 'cos don't have the info! Being 15 min walk from reception if there was an emergency - that alone would prevent me returning. (We couldn't get the shower working when we got there so we had to ring the hotel from our mobile!) Overall I felt the area we were in (N) was very poorly maintained. Chipped paint, broken decking, outdoor sensor lights not working, remote controls needed batteries, air con dripped water, mould in some of the pictures on the wall - there was even a nappy outside on the patio underneath the air con units which stayed there for 3 days until the gardeners kindly moved it to the table, under a placemat....disgusting. Overall, I felt that I was staying somewhere that did not reflect the price we paid. Last year we we stayed in Vila Bicuda near Cascais, far superior resort, little further from local town and beach but am sorry I didn't go back there! Alvor is an ok town, feels like it exists only for tourists, Cascais much nicer!

We got an apartment with 2 bedrooms. Though there were only 5 of us the apartment could've taken up to 8... maybe 9! The apartments are clean and spacious. The kitchen is fully fitted with modern furnishings (fridge, oven etc). There is a walled balcony with a table and chairs outside every apartment and a tv inside. The whole place is safe and clean. The pools are amazing with out of this world views. Though we barely went to the beach from what we did see and hear about it it was very good.
The staff at reception and at the poolside restaurant were very helpful though they did not all have the best english! The food in the poolside bar/restaurant was lovely. Overall very enjoyable!
