“A great base for young families!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

Just got back from a week at the Prainha Clube and despite not having perfect weather we had a lovely break! The apartment was immaculate with modern decor. A comfortable size with excellent bathroom and kitchenette facilities.
The complex is well landscaped, with a lot of 'green space' which was fantastic for little ones to run around in, their own pool and play park gave them plenty of things to do; without the need for a 'Kids club'.
We are beach lovers tho, and the walk down to the secluded coves bordering the complex were well worth the effort, finding a beautifully clean beach with golden sands and exciting tunnels!
We didn't eat at all of the on site restaurants; preferring to potter down to the Alvor harbour. However our experience of 'Miss Pasta' the pizzeria were very good with delicious Mediterranean dishes.
Our only disappointment with the hotel and its services was the quality of the breakfast available, for 8 Euros it was very basic so we bought goodies and made our own..
Otherwise, a great place for a very reasonably priced family break, we would happily return!!

Stayed here for two weeks last year and cant fault anything, we stayed in a one bed apartment with beautiful sea views.Everything was spotless and the Atlantic pool is breathtaking its a great place to sit and relax with a cocktail as the sun goes down.Cant recommend it enough.
I liked it so much i am going back in a few weeks hope its as good as i remember.

Stayed 2 weeks in a rented privat row house in the same complex as the hotel. As previous writers note the location is fantastic, for me in top 3 beach location experienced. Choice between 2 pools and the ocean. Sandy beach as good as it gets, just note the Atlantic waters are cold. Atlantic pool with permant umbrellas + 2 loungers (eur 7 total), same on the beach is EUR 10. Restaurant at Atlantic pool very convenient, same with having a pizza restaurant and small convenience store on site. Fresh rolls/croissant every morning!!! During our stay the vacationers were a good mix of Europeans with Portuguese and English in the majority. Can confirm comments on restaurants nearby. Having a car, utlize the Continente supermarket in Portimao for groeceries - open 7 days a week- or the mega mall Aqua for clothing / accessories - as our friend said this is a mall designed by women for women.

We staid here for our wedding from June 24th until July 5th
Check in
We chencked in at about 11am and the room was ready.
We paid for a T1 apartment but were upgraded to a T2 which was massive for 2 people. T2 included a good sized kitched with Washing machine and diswasher, microwave and fridge and toaster which is great for self catering if you are going as a family. The sitting room was massive with a giant couch with a pull out leather bed in the corner. The balcony was a good size and was nice and quiet as was ovelooked a path and not a road.

Rooms
The T2 comes with two giant rooms, with two singke beds in each. One room has a good sized ensuite bathroom with the main bathroom been bigger. Each bathroom contaied a shower with the ensuite containing a bath with the shower in the bath,

Complex itself
Nice and quite, and safe. No maurading groups of kids or loud families on the lash for the week that you might find in other cheaper complexes. Everybody is nice and quite and friendly and relaxed. I think there are three pools (we saw two pools but I think tere was a third somewhere). The first pool near the reception was never packed and there was always free sunloungers (we didnt use this pool as we were pretty busy for the 10 days we were there but it looked lovely). The 2nd pool that we used was the saltwater cliff pool which has grgeous views over the sea., Had breakfast there one morning and was lovely, a little expensive but worth it. Be warned, there is no price to use the satwater pool or lie on the grass, but to rent a sunlouger is 7 euro a day which was the only issue I had with the whole stay-i mean you have already paid to use the hotel facilities so shy do you have to pay again? That sai, this was the only problem I had with the complex, otherwise, absolutely great place, nice and quiet and well worthe the money.

Finally, the complex is about a 20-25 min walk down hill to Alvor and id say after some beer and food in the evening it would be 35-40 min walk. Taxis cost about 6 euro. If you had a car it would be perfect, otherwise, factor the price of taxis into your budget :)
Lastly, a tip when ordering taxis. Order the taxi from reception but tell them that you will be waiting at the roundabout to the left of the exit, If the taxi has to come to reception he/she needs to drive approx 5min back out of town to the next roundabout to do a u turn and head back into Alvor. May add an extra 1 or 2 euro and a few min to your trip.

I have stayed here three times with three others in a T2 self catering apartment. It was spacious with large living/dining area and plenty of balcony/patio space front and back. Two bathrooms and all mod cons. Its a fantastic resort and planning to go again. The rooms are cleaned regularly. The beach is private and views to die for. We had breakfast near the hotel reception once. The cheapest restaurant is Miss Pasta less than 200metres away and the best location restaurant is Caniço built within the rocks and has a lift. Amazing for lunch and evening cocktails. We havent tried Búzio's yet but there is another on the beach front O'louis about 100- 200 metres up, is perfect for breakfasts and evening meals. Their service is friendly. They offer great food choices and advice. A must if you want a friendly and less busy resort, with a real touch of Portugal, this is the place to go! Alvor is the nearest small town about a mile away. Or Portimao about 3 miles where you can make larger purchases and buy your bits if you are dining in. Looking forward to going again.
I have also been inside the room in the main part of the hotel. They are clean, white washed, well furnished and a good size, if you are looking for room only.

Room Tip: Apartments located in G block are closest to road side for convenience of transport

We, couple with one child age nine have just returnd after a two week stay in the Prainha. We cannot speak highly enough of the accomodation and location. As other reviews have pointed out the atlantic pool is a beautifull with a back drop of the ocean, lovely pool side restaurent and bar where we enjoed lunch enjoying wonderful views.
The gardens are extensive and very well tended.
While the complex is big and appeared to be full the complex never felt busy or crowded.
Restaurents on complex are all very good, if travelling with children they will certainly enjoy Miss Pasta, has a nice menu, Buzio is excellent but is pricey, Canico is a little expensive we thought but lovely aspect on the beach.
There is no evening entertainement and bar closes at ten so this may not suit everybody. Alvor is only a short taxi ride away though.
We will certainly return.
