Food bland and not hot enough. Unfriendly waiters did not clear tables quick enough. Comfortable beds and clean linen Lifts improved

Had to eat in sister hotel dining room for some decent food. Beach superb Huts on beach for food and snacks, excellent. Still would recommend. Chambermaids friendly and helpful

The hotel was clean and tidy if a little dated in some of the decor but that's just personal taste. It was quiet- this probably had something to do with the average age of guests. The location was great, being close to the beach down a sloping track. The staff were friendly and helpful but . . . on booking in, we were among several guests not to be given a room with a balcony, as booked. (The Thomson brochure is a bit misleading and implies balconies are provided with double rooms,) We were given a room with a balcony when we complained but others weren't so lucky. The steam room was not operating and the pool area was a little shabby- we got the impression this was because it was low season and full maintenance hadn't really started. The gardens were pleasant and the hotel were sprucing things up for spring. We found the food disappointing and not up to standards in other 4 * hotels including another Pestana we'd stayed at. The dining room ambience wasn't too bad but the quality and variety of food was poor. It was presented in water heated canteen-type covered containers that looked like bread bins. The variety at breakfast time and with the desserts in the evening was repetetive. If your standards are high, like ours, we would not recommend this hotel. Earlier reviewers mention problems with the lifts; we had none.

Stayed in the delfim in september 2006 and had an absolute fantastic time.!! Yes they were only 3 lifts working but you are allowed to use the service lifts in the staorcase so that gives you access to another 3. Had a fantastic 9th floor room which was cleaned immaculately every day. Went with our 3yo little boy and i must compliment everyone at the hotel for their attitude to children. By the end of the 3rd day he was on first name terms with all the waiters and even got taken to see the " big cook" as he called it by the retaurant manager. pool is very cold and sea water but also makes a welcome relief from the heat. Walk to beach is thru the gardens and down a track, beach is beautiful and at the bottom of the track you will find 2 fantastic beach front bars. Food in the restaurant was always first class and changed on a nightly basis, choice was varied and something to please everyones taste. If i had to make a minor moan it would be that they wasnt a childrens meal section to chose from but if you asked the waiters they did anything to make our boy happy. All in all a fantastic stay and would not hesitate in returning or recommending this hotel.

Good hotel. Rooms spacious. Entertainment minimal, but New Years Eve very good. Food sometimes below par, but on the whole very good. Taxi (4 people) either to Alvor or Portamao was covered by 5 euros, including tip.

Fish restaurants in Alvor brilliant. Must see - zoomarine. It's a better show than Florida.

Possibly better to go room only/B&B and buy food out. It's cheap enough. Hotel drink more costly than outside.
