We stayed September 2012 for 7 days for €200. excellent value. the apartment is reasonable in size for couple + 9 month old. there were 4 beds total. 3 singles up stairs in what we would call the attic, they were kind of dark with just 1 skylight. However they would be ideal for kids as the door into rooms upstairs were like something out of movies, 3 ft high!!!!

Downstairs we had a large bathroom and main double bed. kitchen come sitting room with washing machine microwave and all the utensils + 2 ring hob. we had a small balcony which gets sun in afternoon and evening and faces the Pingo Doce shopping centre just a stones throw away. We for the first time washed clothes on holiday and its caught on, we can bring half the bag of clothes now and with the weather clothes dry in couple hours particularly babies clothes. It is a short 5 minute walk from the main pedestrian street in the town. Area felt very safe and was well lit for being on outskirts of the town. Pool was quite at end of season but was clean, plenty of sun loungers.

Some nice coffee shops close by with coffee just €1 if you walk the short walk over to Pingo Doce look to your left, this is where locals come to have a coffee cigarette and a beer. Very comfortable. It's at opposite end of town to the beach so walk there is like a good half hour.

We had a great time we have booked again for June 2013 for 10 days for €300. Like everything if you are bringing a few kids its reasonable, clean comfortable, very safe, close to big shopping centre and short walk from town.

It is said that the first impression is the one that you remember, our first impression was really bad. We were dropped off by Resort Hoppa coach at 21.00, the whole place was unlit and looked deserted. It took us a good 10 minutes to find the reception, this was unstaffed and completely unlit. There was a notice on the window which had a couple of phone numbers on - incase there was no receptionist at hand.I suppose in this day and age nearly everyone will have access to a mobile phone but if you didn't have one I wonder how you would have reached the recepionist. We received an answer on the second of the phone numbers, the receptionist said she'd come straight down, when she came down she said that she'd expected us to arrive the night previous and that she had taped our room key to the window - not the most secure way of welcoming guests.
Anyway on entering our apartment we were greeted by a very strong smell of curry .... we decided to leave our cases and go out into Alvor straight away.
Later on when we got back, I gave the whole place a good long spray with the air freshener I had bought and we went straight to sleep.
We were woken by the dawn chorus of two very loud donkeys which had a paddock about 100 yards from our window, there was also a camping field next to that and at times that was quite noisy too.
On the plus side the apartment was large and had all the things you'd need for a self catering holiday. It wasn't really very clean but once the window had been left open it had lost the curry smell. We couldn't open the balcony door the mechanism seemed jammed, but when I reported this, it was opened for us without any fuss. Also another great plus is that there is a brand new supermarket The Pingo Doce that has just been opened just a stones throw away.
All in all we wouldn't go back again, but it is a budget hotel so I suppose you get what you pay for.
When we vacated our room at 10.00 on a Sunday morning, yet again the reception was closed so we just left our key outside the reception.

We stayed here 3 years ago and enjoyed it so much that we booked a 2 week holiday starting on 1st May 2011. When we arrived at 11.30 am Sunday morning the manageress was there, (the same one from previous visit) the place looked closed up. We were shown to our apartment. The cutlery drawers were full of food crumbs as was the settee and toaster! The floors hadn't been swept and everything was dusty. We never saw the manageress again until Tuesday as the reception was always closed. We received clean towels on Wednesday and Friday the first week and only on the Wednesday of the second week (our stay ended on following Sunday)We did not receive clean sheets until the 11th day of our stay and then they were left in the hall for us to change ourselves, we left the dirty sheets in the hall for collection and they were still there when we left. In all there was someone in reception briefly on 3 occasions during our entire stay! There was a notice taped to the door saying to phone a mobile number if we wanted anything. Our apartment was not cleaned at anytime during our stay A man was doing something with the pool on the 3rd day of our stay, I asked him if it was ready to be used and he said yes but the water was a cloudy green colour and you could not see through it, no one used the pool the whole time we were there because it did not look clean. When we went into the local tourist office for information, the man there said he had had a couple in the day before who had booked into Casa De Alvor but when they turned up, it was all closed and they had to go and fins alternative accommodation. Although we love Alvor and having been going there for the last 8 years we will never stay in Casa De Alvor again!

We arrived early and we're checked straight into our apartment. It was lovely - for the price we paid, we were very pleasantly surprised. It was clean, with air con, fresh towels, comfy beds and even a washing machine! There were 3 of us staying and the apartment was a perfect size.
The complex was well located (5 mins from town) and was really well maintained by staff - the pool and communal areas were great.
What definitely has to be mentioned however, is the fantastic manager Leila, who was so friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed too much - from answering giving plenty of directions, calling taxis on our behalf and helping with trips.
We would definitely recommend Casa De Alvor to anyone!

We have been to Alvor for the past eleven years at other accommodation and have had no problem with cleanliness/security/safety or any other issues to spoil our holiday. We arrived at Casa De Alvor at 9.30pm. to find no one at reception and everything locked up after stopping several occupants at the apartments who telephoned Leila who advised that our apartment key was actually in an envelope sellotaped to the outside window of reception, even though we had advised the owner in advanced the expected time of our arrival due to flights etc. at no time were we informed that there would be no one at reception.

After 5 days, we arrived back at our apartments to be informed by other holiday makers that several apartments had been broken into with a MASTER KEY and property/cash/safety deposit boxes etc had been stolen and none of the staff had seen or heard anything even though a cleaning staff member had been in the actual floor where the breakins had occurred. After investigations by police/holiday makers it was found that the main garage door is not locked and anyone can enter/exit the property and gain access to any of the apartments without being questioned/stopped by owners or staff. The manager Leila stated that this was now an ongoing problem that MASTER KEYS were being used and could offer no solution and as she did not live at the property in the evenings did not feel that the burglars would return in the near future. The rest of our holiday was spent in fear that these burglars would enter the apartments any time as no extra security was put in place by either the owners/staff/management. In short do not book these apartments if you value your property or safety.
